Description
My trip to Costa Rica ended in an area that is known for having many Quetzals. This photo is from an early morning tour where we were lucky to see two pairs of this beautiful bird up close. I returned the next day for an even closer view. As I was going back to the lodge to pack for the airport, another Quetzal flew over my head into an avocado tree behind our room. What a great way to end the perfect vacation.Resplendent Quetzal

One: i love this bird. Two: where did you take this picture? and Three: Is it worth it? this is a beautiful picture of this quetzal bird; stood very still and looks like a portrait of some kind of royal bird. superb quality and quality of light and position in what you took the picture. the green of the feathers stand out in this picture and retains this innocence and tranquility that every animal possess but rarely seen in birds, which this picture captures that ideal.even though people take people use this bird in art, it's still a wonderful portrait. frankly in two words: it's adorable!!! truly cute and perfect; love it to pieces!!!! good work e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Thanks for this review as well! This was taken in San Gerardo de Dota in Costa Rica. To tell you the truth, this bird is a huge reason for my entire trip. Because of that, my travel agent recommended San Gerardo de Dota. It was SOOO worth it. Even though I missed out on good photos of other birds due to the weather, having so many good ones of the Quetzal makes up for it!! The guide sees these birds every day, I even saw one at the lodge we were staying at

Wow you're so lucky you got to photograph the Quetzal! They're such beautiful and majestic creatures. I wish I could see one for real, I have been since I was a little girl and found out it was the national bird for Guatemala (where I'm from). It's an excellent shot!

WOW! I saw one of these some 15 years ago on a trip to the cloud forest in Costa Rica; though "saw" is a bit of a stretch, all I could make out was a silhouette.

Our first sighting was from pretty far away, between branches on a windy day. Was a good look through a scope, but the later sightings were much better!
