The spirit is not Vengeance, not any longer; the mage's righteous fury burned away with the Chantry, ebbed away with his life's blood. Justice is free... and he is alone.
See, keeps drawing things that make me desperately need to draw them also because they are too awesome to leave alone. Like this. [link] So, because I am an even bigger Justice fan than I am an Anders fan (and trust me, I'm a big goddamn Anders fan), I couldn't help but take her fantastically baww idea and run with it. I was TRYING to draw Anders' body all horrid and zombified after Vengeance had been inhabiting it for a while, but Anders's sheer levels of sexy overpowered me and I ended up drawing post-recent-stabbing Anders-corpse instead. And he looked all sad so I suppose he is Justice now instead of Vengeance. STUPID SEXY ANDERS, YOU RUIN EVERYTHING.
TL;DR - here have a great big wish fulfillment fantasy on the part of a Justice fangirl depressed about DAII. A really mean fangirl who doesn't give her favorite characters happy endings even when she's giving them happy endings.

Aww thank you! <333 And it totally blew my mind when Yunska pointed it out to me, too. I mean, if he could inhabit a corpse before, what's to say he couldn't do it again? In fact, it seems like it might be even easier for him, to me, because Anders was a mage and thus has a connection to the Fade. I totally think Justice would even still be able to access Anders' powers.

I have a feeling we'll at least see more of this... subject matter in the future, re: the difference between spirits and demons. They've spent enough time building on the concept that it'd be kind of anticlimactic if they just let it drop suddenly. XD

IF there's a difference at all! Awakening's justice is very particular about saying he's no demon and that these and spirits are essentially different, but DA2 anders and merrill's banters made me totally rethink everything... aauughh I wish DA3 has lots and lots of mages and demons and fade talk and and and aaaaah!

He's still got his Justice mojo, he can take down a few nasty Templars. He may even be able to tap Anders' magic, who knows? The ability to access mana, a mage's connection to the Fade, seems to be as much a physical property as a mental one, so perhaps that link to the Fade is still accessable to him like this. He may even be casting a spell in this picture, I DON'T KNOW.

You think so? At least this way he's himself again, a spirit, rather than a monster corrupted by Anders' hate. Even Anders says he hopes it will be this way when he's executed, that maybe Justice can be free. Although there's still the question of what will happen to him when he's forced to depart the body, it seems likely that even then he'd go on to the Fade in some form or another.
