well... yes, just some headcanon that's not very popular - when thane dies, kolyat takes his place in taking care of shepard. and then KABOOOOOM milions of fantastic ideas how could it be! maybe shepard fell for kolyat since she first saw him? maybe she was with thane to get closer to his son? maybe they both love each other, but ignore their feelings knowing of that thane will die soon anyway?
...or maybe just simple sex-revenge.

well, i don't know any other places
and i'm really not much into reading fanfictions, since i'm very picky about language and esthetics and headcanons and everything... i just know three, maybe four that i really liked.
maybe you should just write your own

I thought of it, but the idea of it overwhelms me. What if I get writer's block? What if I get the characterization wrong? And then I have to sit down and write it. Man I wish I could write with my mind, like telepathically make the words appear. Lol, yes, I know, this sounds like whining, but I'm a perfectionist.

I panic at the thought of butchering my favorite characters in fanfiction.

On the other hand, I'm very good at roleplay forums.

I've read it long before I created my first account here, on dA!
I gave this fanfic a try because I was (and still am) so in imaginatory love with Thane. I could never thougt of Kolyat as sexual partner for Shepard before! SotS really changed my conception on that drell family, so thank You for that! So, this drawing is somekind of tribute to You!

And yes, two things:
1. It's not a pedofilic affair, no way - 15 years gap happens in real life so often! Why those hipocrites aren't raging about the age gap between Liara and Shepard? Come on, it's like two ages (I don't know exactly, I'm not interested in asari) - it's not pedophilia, it's just... sick.
2. That commenter also mentioned that Shepard is Kolyat's stepmother. So not true. She doesn't have to be one. What about Shepard-Garrus pairing? It's all so abstract - but I don't like receiving critic from narrow minded opinion givers.

Ahaha, yes that's me. I suppose you read 'Sins' on fanfiction.net. I can't quite remember the reason why I chose to do a fic between Kol/Shep, but when I saw him ingame he really made an impact on me. I'm a huge Thane fan myself too. The whole Drell concept is just delicious.

After I replied to your artwork I went online to make doubly sure about his age. According to MassEffectWikia, Irikah was killed when Kolyat was 10. Thane then came back and left him with his aunts/uncles. It was then another 10 years since he left and we finally saw him. So, in effect, Kolyat is 20-21 years old. Well above the age of consent for sexytimes So, he's not a child and their relationship isn't pedofilic. Yep, the age gap is big, but such is life. Sometimes it happens.

When I saw that the previous poster mentioned Shep is Kolyas stepmother, I had to laugh. Shep and Thane never got married, that I saw. Besides, who's to say that my Shep from 'Sins' was in a relationship with Thane? Everyone knows that Thanes romance can only proceed if his loyalty mission is completed. It clearly states that in 'Sins' it wasn't, so they weren't in a relationship.

I'm very careful when I write fictions about ME or DA characers, for this very reason. People see something they don't like, and give negative feedback without knowing all the details. As you said, it's very narrow-minded.

I still absolutely love Kolyat. I'm writing a new fanfic that is a ME/DAO crossover, featuring the elf warden, Neria and Kolyat, among others. So I should probably stop rambling (AGAIN!) and get back to writing it lol.

Keep up the great work, and I'm glad you liked 'Sins' enough to consider the possibility of a Shep/Kolyat pairing
