I was planning on carving a Metroid theme into my pumpkin this year, then I just so happened to see these green (blue?) pumpkins at our local pumpkin stand and just had to get one. Let me tell you though, these things are tough! It really took a lot out of me to carve it... and it's a relatively simple design! But it was worth it.

I drew the metroid on with washable markers before carving, just to get the design down. I wiped the marker off but didn't completely wash it, leaving some darker green and some red to enhance it's metroidiness. It took about three hours all in all, I'd say.
{Edit 2} I forgot to mention the fangs/pincers... they're just pumpkin stems I found lying around at the place I got the pumpkin.

Thanks for all the faves and comments, it really makes the extra effort worth it.
