Description

This takes into account multiple different linguistic theories about the classification of languages in the Southeastern US while also synthesizing it with existing data. The theories accepted are:

- Yuchi is distantly related to Siouan

- Calusa and its derivative languages is distantly related to Tunica

- Natchez is a para-Muskogean language

- Ishak and Chitimacha derive ultimately from proto-Caddoan, which is an extension of Mary Haas's Gulf languages hypothesis

- Totozoquean speakers from Veracruz influenced the languages of the Lower Mississippi Valley

- A sprachbund emerged in Texarkana that led to the standardization of many grammatical and phonetic features across the Southeast primarily between Caddoan and Muskogean languages

- Timucua is the result of a Taino Arawakan migration into Florida and gradually spreading linguistic and cultural influence across the Atlantic coast of North America
