Description
This is how I envisioned Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li in "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" movie.I started this image about a year ago and put it off because I went on vacation and other things took priority. Check out the old art here: [link]
About the costume: I made her costume resemble her Alpha/Zero one since the movie supposedly took place during the Alpha/Zero timeline. I didn't want to make it cosplay-looking so I added finger-less gloves, smaller bracelets, long sleeves, black pants and replaced the gold swishes on her vest for embroidered dragons resembling the curves of the swishes. I also added a zipper to her vest because I thought it'd be a surer way she wouldn't accidentally pop out during a fight...although some of you would like that... naughty... Oh yeah, I also gave her bangs.
Artwork measures 27" x 41" (one-sheet movie poster size.)

It's very nice but it sucks that's pretty much a waste seeing how abysmally that movie was and that she was the worst casting as chun li.

There a lot more effort and passion in this than the actual movie ... that quite sad
Anyway , amazing job

This is what Chun Li should have looked like in that god awful live action movie!
Instead in that movie, she looked more like Padme from Star Wars, and i felt like I was watching Star Wars in the scene where she did the Spinning Bird Kick.

Ah another deviant like me thinking "how the character should look have looked".
I have to say that this is great, much better than the movie version of the character. And also a lot more respectful to the series in a serious but really cool way.
And all of that with a laptop, and not millions of dollars on a wasted design like in the movie.

Awsome appearance.
Wish they had a similar desighn in the movie rather then having her fihgt in civilian attire.

Awesome work, only problem is Kristin Kreuk, she never looked like Chun Li to me.
Otherwise this is fantastic work, would love to see how you would design the rest of the cast.

Thanks.
Yeah, Kristin almost looks Asian, though. Also, Chun-Li never looked fully Chinese...even in her first appearance. She always looked Eurasian (Caucasian + East Asian).

True, though this is more of an anime trope than anything. Ryu doesn't look any more Japanese than Ken in almost every game, Street Fighter III being the turning point for him. Plus Sakura, Rainbow Mika, and other's look distinctly not asian.
Even then it's not so much whether she's fully chinese or half, Kristin Kreuk just doesn't appeal to me. She doesn't come across as powerful, her acting is pretty uninspred (though compared to Nash in that movie she comes across as Shakespearean, so not all bad), and I feel they could have made a much better choice, casting wise.
The whole movie just felt like it was ashamed to be anything like the games to me, changing all the character designs to the point of unrecognisability, changing the title character's backstory from Interpole agent who wants justice to just some girl who wants revenge...the only positive parts were Balrog's and Bison's casting, but their directing and reimaging completely destroyed them.

Man, wouldn't you consider run a sequence of Chun Li Legend? It's absolutely perfect! No errors... just perfect! O_o....
One of the best drawing of her, and I know what I'm talking about. Real great dude, real great.

You made that from scratch?
How long did it take?

mynando In reply to rafiqm [2010-02-16 23:18:22 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, all from scratch. The full-scale image is huge and that bogged down my laptop's processor so it took a bit more than 3 weeks (every day for 10+ hours).
I got my laptop upgraded now, so I can crank out art faster.
