Description

This picture shows a female European garden spider (also called diadem or cross spider, or in latin “Araneus diadematus”) consuming its prey, a wasp.

What I like about this picture (apart from the spider ) are the different kinds of “ropes” – the silk of the spider, the nylon thread, and the thin steel rope all together in one arrangement.

Dieses Bild zeigt eine weibliche Kreuzspinne („Araneus diadematus“) die gerade ihre Beute – eine Wespe – verspeist.

Was ich an diesem Bild mag (mal abgesehen von der Spinne ) sind die drei verschiedenen Arten von „Seilen“: Spinnenfaden, Nylonseil und das dünne Stahlseil, die hier in einem Bild gemeinsam vorkommen.
