Backstory: Where there is sunshine and surfing, Dune can't be too far away! As Dune lived his wonderful foal hood in a small beach side house in Horseshoe Bay, he learned to love the ocean and everything in it! Catching on to his natural talent for surfing as a foal, Dune competed in many Horseshoe Bay surfing competitions, but usually lost or got disqualified for horsing around and playing practical jokes on the other contestants. Dune was always a very laid back and chill pony, but he has a big sense of humor. He absolutely adores making others laugh with his jokes. On the other hoof, Dune's mother was the complete opposite. Believing that the #1 goal in life was to get an education and job, she shipped Dune off to Canterlot with his sister so the two of them could start a future for themselves. As Dune's sister, Beach Coral, flourished with her studies, Dune's grades quickly plummeted and he soon dropped out of school all together. Getting a part time job at a famous Canterlot art gallery's gift ship, Dune quickly got to know another art-loving pony like himself and frequent visitor to the gallery, Painted Melody . Today, Dune and Painted Melody live together in a small Canterlot apartment above Melody's personal art gallery and store. Side by side, the two of them run the gallery and create new works to be sold and display, most being of the ocean and his home town.
