Description
This is my entry to the contest for Father's Day.

I decided to base my artwork on the characters from the Disney show "Phineas and Ferb." Lawrence is the father of Ferb and stepfather for Phineas, but I wanted to include Lawrence's father, Reginald. I believe that grandfather's play an important role in how future father's will treat their children. I honestly didn't grow up with a grandfather nearby, let alone grandparents, so I felt it was right to have him be the focus in this picture.

Background: Phineas and Ferb are trying to figure out what they should do for Father's Day since it was coming up real fast. Luckily, their grandpa, Reginald, on their father's side was coming over to visit from Britain for the weekend. After talking about the past with their grandpa and going through album after album, Reginald suggested that they bring him to a lake to go fishing. Phineas and Ferb turned to each other and agreed on one thought...Why not bring the lake to him?!!

Story:
Phineas and Ferb wake up from their slumber on Sunday morning and realize that it's Father's Day. They looked at each other and thought the same thing, "What are we going to do for dad?" They raced downstairs and found their grandpa, Reginald (who was visiting over the weekend), eating breakfast.

Phineas: Hey grandpa!
Reginald: Yes, my boy?
Phineas: Father's day is coming up and we want to do something special for our dad!
Reginald: Well, my boy, when your father was a wee lad, he would love our little trips to the lake. We would rent out this little red boat called, "Nose Bud," and just fished till the son went down...Or until your grandma would shout at us from across the lake to go home already.
Phineas: That sounds like a great idea! *Turns to Ferb* I know what we are going to do today!
Ferb: ... *Whips out construction hat and places it on his head then heads outside to begin planning out the layout*
Phineas: *Turns around to follow Ferb, but turns back around to face his grandpa* Hey gramps?
Reginald: Yes, my boy?
Phineas: Thanks again for the idea! Want to join us in planning this out?
Reginald: No, my boy. You know what? I will just distract your father for you until you two get everything set up!
Phineas: Thanks, gramps!

A few hours later, Phineas and Ferb have finished building the lake in the backyard and contacted their grandpa to bring thier dad home. Luckily, mom and Candace were out getting dad the perfect gift before dinner time, which left the boys with time to spend with their dad.

Reginald: Come on, son. I think Phineas and Ferb have a little surprise for you in the backyard.
Lawrence: Wonder what it could be?

Lawrence heads out to the backyard and is so intrigued by what could possibly be out there that he didn't realize is grandfather had left his side to go upstairs to watch all of this unfold.

Lawrence: *Goes through the glass door that leads to the backyard and finds himself sounded by a lake* This is amazing!

He sees his sons ride up to the little dock on the same little red boat that his father and himself had made fishing trips on. It brought a small tear to his eye as he approached his sons.

Phineas: Happy Father's Day!
Ferb: Did you know that the first Father’s Day happened on June 17, 1910?
Lawrence: Boys, this brings back memories! Thank you! Wait...Where did your grandfather go?
Phineas: Hmmm...I don't know...But come and join us on the boat dad!

Lawrence steps into the boat and they ride out to the middle of the lake. As each of them have fishing rods in their hands, they laugh and talk about anything and everything. As this is going on, Reginald is spying through Candace's window in her room. He smiles widely and whispers, "Happy Father's Day, son."
