During the Unicron Battles Overcharge, Runway, Mineplacer and a number of other Transformers were sent on missions inside the dark god Unicron. During one such mission Overcharge was exposed to Unicron’s lifeblood, Angolmois Energy, and reformatted as a result. He was transformed from a lumbering tank to a powerful Cybertronian ground-attack spacecraft. During the same battle Mineplacer, his Mini-Con was badly damaged necessitating a new partner. The mass-casualties during the battle meant that a new bulk-less partner was available in the form of Flak a angry little turret of destruction formerly Warpath’s Mini-Con partner. Powerlinking with Flak further enhanced Overcharge’s weapon loadout to include a whole host of directed-energy weapons. Eventually the combined forces of the Autobots and Decepticons beat back Unicron.

Cool, I had some sketches as a kid, where I had a whole series of Transformers Characters. that had a weapons mode (like overcharge here) If memory serves I called them Artillery Masters. As when in "Artillary Mode" there weapons had a great increase in power, but obviously slowed there walking speed.
Hmm. If anyone interested i can see if i can find em.
Addendum. I hadn't read the bio.... so this guy needs a minicon to do that. As a footnote my childhood was still G1 Head Masters was nearest you got. So my Artillery Masters, were more like semi-triple changers.

Thanks so much for the comment! That concept sounds pretty similar to the turbo-masters from G2. I always wanted to make a version of those but haven't gotten around to it yet.
If you do dig up those images hit me up via notes. I'm starting to get 3d modeling burnout but I might have it in me to recreate one of them if you have an interest.
In regards to the mini-con comment, the original japanese Armada dub had this concept called 'powerlink evolution' which basically meant that once a Mini-Con linked to a transformer it added some gimmick and from that point on that transformer could use that gimmick with or without the Mini-Con (but it was more powerful if the mini-con was present.) the US version of Armada didnt mention this at all. In my head-canon that's what goes on with Mini-Cons and what makes them such a hot commodity compared to other generic macguffin buffs in the Transformers universe.

Oh Interesting, yeah in the show, was always used as a key to unlock every time allowed reuse of stock footage i guess.
I think my favourite was probably and his minicon, as they had the same colour scheme and it kinda tucked away so wasnt as obvious.... so many others just had this clashing micro-master like vehicle plugged on.
Anyways, you seen the new Official Transformer Announcement (that is pretty much identical from an over 10year old fan custom that was very popular) Volcanicus. Aka, the main 5 Dinobots as a combiner.
