Description
oh bother, why's the paper all crinkly? Anyway, did I mention I have OCs? Because I do. I just never finish any of their stories. This one should be pretty short, though, something like a children's book. I might actually complete it---might.
I haven't scripted anything yet, so right now it's only vague ideas, character designs, and concept drawings like this on scraps of paper.

Hmm, I definitely understand the feeling of projects going unfinished... I wish you all luck in can that you can complete this one to your satisfaction. c: It certainly seems charming already!

Thank you!
I guess the plus side of having so many stories laying around is that it's kinda fun to randomly pick one up again? The other day, I was reminded of one of my old stories and suddenly realized that one character was actually a linguist, lol.

One of my summer goals is to sit down and actually put this story together (and possibly another one . . .). It's a simple story, but I've got such a dismal rate for actually finishing these ideas.

Ohh, I really hope you consider finishing it-- however long it might take. ;v; These are such lovely designs; their expressions & body language are so communicative, adorable & graceful!!
Even if it was just 1 page-- would you consider entering something of these characters and/or plot in the Stray Stories contest I have running right now? (The description: Stray Stories Contest#1: Nov 8 2016 - May 9 2017 ).

*looks at the description* My oh my, do I have a lot of children in Stray territory!
Sure, I'll try submitting something for the contest---it sounds fun. Does it have to highlight the Stray concept in particular or can it just be the characters?
I'm actually hoping to get a proper story put together for these characters over the summer, and possibly another short story, too.
So what is Stray? Is it a personal project to bring multiple writers and artists together? Do you have your own stories created around this concept?

myrianabelle , you are wonderful!!!
I'm sorry that I had to take a 2 week break & wasn't able to answer your questions; I see that you went ahead with the contest entry, & I'm just so grateful for your willingness!
I'll try to answer your questions/comments, even though it's belated! ^_^;;
"*looks at the description* My oh my, do I have a lot of children in Stray territory!" XD!! I *loved* reading this-- yeah, I am the same way!
"Does it have to highlight the Stray concept in particular or can it just be the characters?" No, it could just be the characters. ^__^!
"I'm actually hoping to get a proper story put together for these characters over the summer, and possibly another short story, too." Ohh, yes that's so awesome!! Go for it-- I'm rooting for you!!!!!
"So what is Stray? Is it a personal project to bring multiple writers and artists together? Do you have your own stories created around this concept?" Wow: that's beautiful, the first thing you described. 'A personal project to bring multiple writers and artists together.' I hadn't thought of it that way, even though it's so fitting! Seeing other artists & writers, *never* give up, matters so much to me (means everything to me). That's why I wanted to make a world with my stories/characters in it, that might welcome other artists & writers' ideas, too. ...A way to bring 'fan fiction,' 'original characters,' & all kinds of creativity together, if possible.
I do have one finished, published story set on the planet Stray: Aggie Goes to Childhood . I'm working hard to finish others, too!
(TvT) Just, thank you-- *again*!!!

Oh good! I was beginning to worry---I hope everything's in good order.
And you're welcome! It's a fun concept to work with.
Haha, yeah . . . it seems like I always come up with characters but no plot, or there are giant, kinda really important chunks missing. Or I end up with pages of notes an rambling but no actual story. (I think part of the problem with that is I haven't quite found my style for creative writing.)
But I'm hoping to make these summer stories more visual, which is something I haven't really tried before.
Your encouragement is appreciated!
Nice! Are you aiming to make these a series or more like a set of unrelated stories set in the same universe?

Yeah!!
I'm *so* happy that you're giving that a try- more visually-based summer stories- as I love your artwork, and hope that incorporating it into you writing as much as you can will be inspirational for you! (I can hardly express, how *exactly* I can relate to what you wrote of yourself, "It seems like I always come up with characters but no plot, or there are giant, kinda really important chunks missing. Or I end up with pages of notes an rambling but no actual story. (I think part of the problem with that is I haven't quite found my style for creative writing.)" These very worries have been plaguing me... ...so I'm really, *really* wishing you, the very best in this!! It means a lot to me, seeing others keep going!!
You also asked, "Are you aiming to make these a series or more like a set of unrelated stories set in the same universe?" So far, I have only thought up/planned unrelated stories in the same universe. Mostly, it's because of my own weakness and concerns resembling what you've described above: with a story taking me so much effort to compose, rather than just characters who I get to know on the page, I'm not that confident in my ability to serialize stories. If it seems right/feels natural to write a series, then I wouldn't be opposed! But so far, many of the stories that I've thought up seem separated; only with some characters living in perhaps the same city, whether or not they actually get the chance to meet.
Whew, thanks so much for caring to ask!! TwT

Well, I've started scripting (Candy Witches, at least)! I decided to do a bit of a word challenge---no more than 10 words on each page/drawing.
I'm hoping that having a restricted word count will help me use both the drawings and the text to tell the story, instead of relying on one or the other.
Haaa, yeah, writing a series is hard. I remember the last time I tried I literally ended up tearing the entire second "book" out.
That was back when I would binge-write start to finish, which never ended well for me. But if you take the time to get to know your characters and the world, it would probably be a lot easier to write a series or companion stories . . .
Best wishes with your writing, too!

Oh, that's a great idea!! ^__^ It immediately made me think of the story behind Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham, which was his answer to another person's word count challenge (they needed to be small words, too, I believe). We have a brilliant and fun story out of it as a result!
I wish you the same success!!!

Haha, yeah that description basically describes how it is with my OC's right now. This is super adorable though! I love the designs, and the creature under the cauldron.

Under the cauldron is where all the warms are! (That's Nox, the mother's companion spirit, by the way.)
Longer stories . . . yeah, I don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing those. But this is looking to be less than 500 words, so surely I can manage that. it's just all the illustrating, though
Thanks!
