It's a regenerating shape, which can be resized as much as you want. so, yeah it is

In Illustrator it is (I made something following your tut. and opened it in Illustrator). In photoshop it isn't since that's a raster program.
I'm not entirely right, but I'm not entirely wrong either. At least you know it's a shape that can be resized infinitely at no quality loss.

Well, If I remember correctly, you can save it as a "Tiff" file, and get the same result as in illustrator.

Yeah, you're right Just tested it out a minute ago. I never knew that, but I've only used tiff files once
The tut is very good, when I started using Paths and stuff in Photoshop it used to be a pain when said paths cover part of the image I was trying to draw. Your method is great since you get to see what you're drawing over at all times and still get the same results
