The long overdue second portrait in the guild wars 2 fanart series~This time, the super fabulous Norn Guardian. In part a tribute to my big brother who has a lvl 80 female Norn Guardian. He kinda pushed me to make this haha.
Was fun working on this one ^^ I found out painting faces is my go-to thing lately when trying to chill out.

Something I said about this piece in a facebook comment:
Guardians have always had a bit of an Angelic feeling about them for me. I wanted to portray that underneath their gritty Armor and battlewear/stance etc.. Is in fact a protector of life, an angel giving their life for you. D; so deep LOL. I thought it would be the only proper tribute ^^

So far I've done a Human Mesmer and a Norn Guardian. I'll have to do portraits of quite a few more races and classes ^^

I love it. Very beautiful drawing with great attention to details. Nice colour choice as well, it really suits the concept. You did a great job with shadow and light. Also about previous comment about a nose - to me it seems normal, nothing extravagant. Great job, my compliments to your skill.

I like that you do faces from the front. A lot of people do painting's from the best "side". Your paintings are open and relatable. And beautiful!

I find that front on looks tend to be more intense. IF you get the expression in the eyes done properly.. you can convey so much with a portrait. It becomes mesmerizing...
Besides that it's a fun challenge trying to think up things around the faces to create a new image every time, despite it being a front on portrait haha
I've also made it my ultimate challenge to learn to paint eyes that capture life.. it's really difficult.. I still got a lot to learn with faces
