Description
My sister is a big fan of Derpy Hooves, and she rather imagined that Derpy might be a Sea Mareiner (a weather mare who wrangles hurricanes and other large storms that form over the ocean). It requires lots of strength, but not much speed or dexterity, to break up those big, lightningless storms. It's also very seasonal work, which leaves her plenty of time to deliver mail, pianos, and whatever else needs moving around in Ponyville.

Being able to talk to the Sea Ponies would be very usful to tracking down where the storms are forming. And that's her gift. Though it must look silly to dunk your head in the ocean and hover there, holding what would appear to be a very one-sided conversation with the water.

It made me laugh, so I tried drawing it. Plus, Sea Ponies are awesome!
