My headcannon is, Shadow still learning about Earth customs, history, the way people live, talk, interact, etc. Since that was like non exiatant on the Ark. One thing he has learnt is that if something is being very noisy (like a cat or Chao crying for attention), they become quiet if you pet it.

Shadow just needs to learn. That doesn't mean apply that to all living things, hahahahahaaha!!!

And I can imagine other situations where Shadow can be very literal about it.

Also, can you guess. Shadow is not a fond of loud people. lol
