Guess who hasn't been very good at time management over the past few weeks and really wants the Winter Wonderland Badge but didn't realize the cut-off date was tonight until this morning?

So I'm taking this as a last-minute opportunity to finally post the base/blank version of the Ice Rink background I made last year for Carolina on Ice , modeled after the Ice Rink background from the Dreamin' In My Way music video since it's the one thing I have in my backlog that I think does actually fit the idea of "Winter Wonderland" in some way.

I had mentioned in the time-lapse video for Carolina on Ice at the time that I was considering posting the background for others to use, since as I noted in the written description here on dA, I was actually surprised to find that it didn't seem like anyone else had tried to make any kind of "On Ice" background for other Winx fans to use. Or, at least, if they had, I couldn't find it. [Hence why I ended up making my own...Although, considering my more recent track record with Winx art, I may have ended up doing that anyway...]

Better late than never, right? And this may be for the better since I hadn't gotten around to posting the background previously because A. I just couldn't remember it was an option most of the time, and B. I'm rarely super confident in how I post resource content like this in places other than here on dA and [usually] over on my Ko-fi—It's a delicate balancing act between trying to be straightforward about what the resource is and such, but also not sound like an overly enthusiastic corporate ad.

Posting this late and under such circumstances, I feel no obligation to post the background in the other places I normally would. [It is going on Ko-fi , though!] I may at some point just so people know it's here, but most likely that won't be unless and until I do something else with it myself. [Which is a possibility on the table, for what it's worth, but that's all I'll say about that so I don't get anyone's hopes up. I've gotten enough half-finished projects in the air as it is. ]

If you're curious about the actual making of the background, you can read through the description for Carolina On Ice, or if you don't have time to read that small book, I'll copy & paste the background-specific portions here for you:

      "Once I remembered Dreamin' In My Way was a thing, I just had to grab a screenshot that showed a decent amount of the Ice Rink, and then do my best to "translate" it into the same style as we see in the show pre-Season 5. [The backgrounds started taking on a more painterly and complex style from then on; Before and especially in Seasons 1 and 2 they were softer and flatter in what I think was a very fun way].

      Granted, I've never really tried to make a full background in the show's style that wasn't an abstract transformation sequence background [before now], so there was still some challenge there, but it was more so in just visually confirming how the show normally handles certain elements—Like steps/bleachers. And there's a good chance those still aren't completely right here. They still feel a little plain to me, but I wasn't really sure how to push them farther without also going beyond what felt appropriate for the look I was going for.

      The thing that really killed me though was just trying to get what felt like "good enough" for that flower-y pattern on the ice/floor.  Sooooo very many curved lines that overlap and intersect.  "

And with that, I'll leave you Sparklers with my standard Resource statements and be getting back to work on some of those half-finished projects I mentioned:

1. Always Credit Me when you Use this background in Any Form and do not claim it as your own. A simple, "Background made by MysticSparkleWings" will do!

2. Please DO NOT re-upload or redistribute the background without my explicit written permission. You can post the Preview Image with a link back to either this page or the Wings on my Ko-Fi Page if you'd like to share them with others.

You can also link back here or comment your work below just to show me what you did, if you like.  It's not required though, as long as you follow the above rules!

The download is a simple, standard .PNG which should be suitable for just about any project. If you have a very specific project in mind and need a different file type, please contact me and I'll see if the necessary arrangements can be made.
