Which is to say: I've been meaning to update the Prompt List Template I posted a few years ago for a while now, and I finally decided to do that while I was ""busy"" procrastinating on another project.
Mainly, and perhaps obviously, I wanted to update the preview image because the old one is...functional...but it does very little to grab the viewer or communicate much about what you actually get in the download. Plus, this new preview matches more of my other resources and branding stuff. [...As it should, since I've been trying to get better about that sort of thing in general anyway.]
But I also wanted to add a .procreate file since it's become so popular both with other artists and myself, and give all the files a little sprucing up while I was it at.
More specifically, it seems I made a little mistake and even though I had a "universal" font pictured on the preview image, the multi-layered files in the download still had an uncommon niche font actually used in them.
The flat/pixel-friendly .PNG version does look a bit off, but that's just a side effect of being pixel-friendly.
The hope is you'll change the font to something more personal if you're using one of the layered files, but I figure it's still better to start with something easily accessible just in case.
As I said last time, I'm still not the keenest on deviating from well-established prompt lists for certain challenges more often than not, but as doing so becomes ever-more popular (as far as I can tell, anyway), I do see value in people having a template to streamline the process a bit...And I'm still kind of shocked no one seems to have made like a HTML generator for this purpose.
But it is what it is, and I have other things I should really be working on instead, so...Go forth and make prompt lists yourself, or whatever!
You should be able to hit the "download" button [a downwards pointing arrow] somewhere up there and receive a .ZIP file with all of the files listed below included. You can also download the files via my Ko-Fi Page for FREE, or use the "Pay What You Want" option if you'd like to send a little additional monetary support my way.
Once downloaded and unZIPped, you should have a folder with the following items in it:
x1 "READ ME - RULES FOR USE".txt File
x1 Layered .PSD [Photoshop]
x1 Layered .PROCREATE Image File
x1 Layered .CLIP [ClipStudio Paint] Image File
x1 Flat .PNG Image File
Disclaimer: This template was originally designed in Photoshop and modified for other programs afterward. As a result, the template will look and function best in either Photoshop or Photopea.
If you don't use the typical programs for the layered filetypes [Photoshop, Procreate, ClipStudio], at least one of the layered files should be able to be imported into the following other software/apps, though I cannot guarantee they will work exactly the same:
• Photopea (free, browser-based)
• GIMP (free)
This download also includes a .PNG Image file with hard-pixel edges that should be compatible with Microsoft Paint, and just about any other software/app marketed towards artists. For ease-of-use, this .PNG only includes the numbers for the prompts and boxes to use as a guideline for placing any additional text.
The font used for all versions of the template is "Verdana," which is included on most devices by default.
My rules are pretty simple:
And for a final note, as I said for the previous version of the template:
Don't misunderstand me—I'm fully aware that lots of people make prompt lists like this; This very template was modeled after the official Inktober prompt list format, as it's one of the more simple and straightforward designs. So though I have my normal resource rules above, I'm not going to go around assuming every prompt list that looks vaguely like this used my template and demand people take them down. That would be ridiculous, among other adjectives. And besides, I don't have that kind of time at my disposal anyway...because seriously, that's a lot of prompt lists.
It's just, y'know, I spent the time to make the base template and try to make it as accessible as possible. So if someone does decide to use the template I made, it would be nice to have that tiny bit of credit.
