Description Vista System Style 1.0
[May 22, 2006]
I was looking around some screenshots of the latest Vista System and noticed that most of the lookalikes resembling Vista's System Properties were outdated, so I took a jump at it and this is what came out. Took me 3 days to complete. No, not 3 full days, just some time here and there. Inspired by jordygreen's deviation.

[May 23, 2006]
If you simply CANNOT get it to work by simple means as stated above, some suggest using Replacer [link] .

[May 24, 2006]
Well, after two days, I noticed the download of this file is amazing. How can there be no comments though?! Whatever. I'm releasing V.1.5 on Saturday, so look forward to that. Just some minor changes here and there.

[Installation:]
If you want to test it, just run it from explorer like any other program. If you cannot open it by double clicking, right click and "Open with Control Panel".
To install, simply drop within the system32 folder. Make sure you BACKUP the original. If this causes your computer to crash, I am in no way taking responsibility. If the original keeps replacing this version, use Replacer. [link]

[Notes:]
1. If you are not using a Vista UI, or a UI with a white background, you WILL notice background coloring behind each text label. This is the USER's preference, and not mine.
2. In order to view this properly, Segoe UI font must be installed. The font is included in the rar, and I am in no way associated or have any part in creating this font.
3. The image on the LEFT shows how it would look if your computer was manufactured. If it was hand built by yourself or by someone else, the program will resemble the image on the RIGHT.

[Rant:]
I know that there are a bunch of other versions of this out there, but I just wanna make a statement. Other versions contain functions that DO NOT WORK. I try to keep as many unusable buttons and links out of this version just because:
A. IT SAVES SPACE.
B. Why would you want something that doesn't work?
C. Keep in mind, you're using WINDOWS XP. If you wanted all the new features of Vista, I'd save my time and get the beta.
I tried very hard changing text around to make it look as built into Windows XP as possible, but if you are looking for a hardcore version of Vista's System Style, this is probably not the version for you.

Anyways, any feedback would be great, as this is my first deviation.
Thanks for any comments or 's!

Well I did use Replacer...

So the whole point of this "Vista System Style" is to make the right click property of My Computer look like the above sample? Thought it'd be nice as visual style for the whole system.

I used Replacer, followed the steps, and rebooted the system.

I'm only a novice so...

I thought after replacing the original file in system32 folder the whole look of Windows would change to what the preview shows. But I logged off, logged back on, nothing changed.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

You have to use replacer if that doesn't work. [link] The instructions are step by step.

Hmmm... Works when I double click, but once installed (even after I backup the original) it doesnt show up when I right click and hit Properties in My Computer. (Thats what Im supposed to do right?) Do I need to restart?

Well, when you right click properties, does anything show up at all?

Yea, but its the old, plain one. Ive tried twice now, it keeps reverting. Is there a specific way to back up the original?

Try using Replacer [link] Any version is fine. To backup the original, just duplicate the sysdm.cpl in system32.

Okay, I havent tried that yet, but heres what I did:

After multiple attempts, I just started deleting it (With versions elsewhere) and it kept restoring to the original. Every time. So just now, I dragged it straight out of the rar, and right clicked properties really fast. It worked, but i dont wanna close it, it might restore again.

What version of Windows XP are you using? This seems to happen to a lot of people with Home edition. I was helping my friend get it to work, and Replacer did the trick. Kept it in place even after restart. Seems like Bill Gates doesn't want people messin with his files, Lol.
