Description
I love this episode (Identity Crisis). My favorite by far, because it's the one that had me laughing the most. And not only is it well written, but it really lets Danny's voice actor shine. So because I loved the ep so much, I had to do fanart. Here's the result of Danny splitting himself in half: Super Danny Phantom, full time super-hero; and Fun Danny Fenton, full time fun-dude. I love Super D because the super-hero parodies with him (like the dramatic posing and music, complete with hair constantly waving in non-exsistant wind) totally make my sides split. Plus, he finally answers my question of what Danny Phantom would look like if his costume came with a cape. I love Fun D because the voice acting for him is wonderful, thus making his lazy-surfer-dude accent hilarious; plus the fact that he's COMPLETELY lazy leads to no end of humor between him and his over-exerting super half. Also, the longer hair look really suits him.
Super D's striking a pose in the pic, because that's pretty much all he ever does anyways. Fun Dan's in that "fun dude" pose that I find a total riot, for some reason. I realized in this pic that my previous DP fanart didn't have Danny Phantom with his white glow, but I sure wasn't gonna attempt it on this one. I may do that for the next pic that I still need to color.
I did darken his skin slightly; I noticed while rewatching this ep that D's skin tans when he goes ghost. This may be because of two reasons; one, the "pasty white" look clashes with a white and black outfit, or two, due to his own personal glow he's shaded in the series as if he's backlit, thus darkening the whole shebang (which would explain why his white hair and white costume highlights look gray for the most part). Either way, he looks tan in ghost form, so there you go.
Fun D's shirt is striped with a photoshop pattern. You do NOT want to see my own attempts at drawing the stripes. Trust me. >_O
Lighting is coming from different spots for each of them. For Super D it's the upper-right, and for Fun D it's the upper-left. Just for contrast. Because I felt like it.
The background was annoying, as usual. Lets face it; I can't do backgrounds that satisfy me. I couldn't do a scenery shot for this, because it didn't fit the poses. But I've been running out of ideas for artistic backgrounds, and they were all simple anyways. So I opted for simple again. In pastels, because darker colors hid the characters, and I really wanted them to stand out. I went through all that work drawing them, so they're gonna be visible, gosh darn it. I also played with my new comptuer tones that I got for Christmas. They helped me put the fun details in the background of each character. Dramatic zoom lines and lightning flashes for Super D, and hippie flowers for Fun D.

Um...okay. And you're telling me this here...why? DUH they didn't have a brain between them; that was the POINT. A Danny divided isn't half as good as the whole thing. If you don't like the episode, then just don't watch it. You sure aren't going to change MY opinion about it being well written and paced, and I'm an English major with film experience; critizising cartoons is my hobby.
Personally, I've seen far dumber stuff. Like say, every Spongebob episode I've ever had the stomach to watch...or a good chunk of anything to do with Billy from Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
If you're new to DA, here's a helpful tip; the comments area exists to comment on the artwork, not whether or not you like the subject.

Nice jobs on the details, the strips on the shirt don't look to out of place.
Hero Danny looks great, and Fun Danny's pose fits the character perfectly.
This might just be a personal preference, but Hero Danny might look better if his knee was justing out.

I got the angle on his legs wrong. But I had drawn them so well, I couldn't bring myself to erase them. So he's just flying in at a funny angle now. Ah well, such is life.

That's fine; it kind of parodies classice over-dramatic superhero poses (and that character is all about superhero steriotype parodies). It's so over-dramatic it's hilarious.

The bg looks OK. Go with it. I think the biggest problem with it is that the green and blue are of similar intesities and there's not much contrast. I'd lighten the blue a bit.
I noticed that his skin darkens in ghost mode, too. I think it's because, like his hair and outfit, even his skin went from light to dark when he changed. But since Danny is not of African decent, he couldn't go TOO dark, so tan was the result. I think you ought to darken his tan a little--you can't really tell it's there. Of course, I could be viewing it on a bleeched-out school monitor...

I DID lighten it. But then when I went around the BG with the burn tool, it darkened all over again. There really is contrast, but I've seen your school monitors...yeah, they reeeeally wash out colors.
Super D was more tan origionally, but I couldn't get the proper shade of tan right. For some reason, his skin always ended up too gray. I gotta work on that.

Color sample a screenshot in Photoshop. I do that to get color shades right.
