I did this repainting some weeks ago, but I was more excited about the BJD makeup so I wanted to submit those photos before.
This is Howleen Wolf (little sister of Clawdeen and Clawd Wolf)
this one have some improvements, so in a way is best than the other ones but still I'm not sure if I like it, because I had an accident with one of her cheeks...
so here's my critique:
I put excesive and too much dark blushing, and not in the same cheek area
her freckles are too dark and makes she looks sick
I used too much sealant on her and the face looks dirty and lumpy
the onlt thing I like about it are the eyes, still not symetric at all but I see a big improvement on them, at last I drew them with only the pencils and not the brushes, and it was all thanks to the multiple tips
I prefer to paint BJDs, but I want to do it good with MHs too, now it's something personal
feel free to critique to help me get better, but please be respectful with my work! I put a lot of time and effort on this

Because Monster High was originally created to compete against Bratz? So I guess they kept the freaky huge lips with the design *sighs*

hmmm I don't think so, but well, factories want their makeup to be llamative and call people's attention. I personally like it in a way althrough I prefer to repaint them

I've seen just about all your repaints and I have to say, yours are much better than the factory made ones. Each one has a distinct characteristic and personality that is not heavily dependent on their concepts. They also look a bit more realistic(to me) than the others which seems to me to have been made from the same mold but was given different color and length of hair, skin color and heavy makeup. You don't use a lot of makeup, which I find to be a bit more alluring than the heavy, trashy makeup look the factory dolls seem to have. You Frankie and Meowlody are my favorites so far. I think they would be very popular if they were actually mass marketed, but that's my thoughts on it.
Long winded comment short, I like your dolls so far. Can't wait to see more. ^^ Oh, I have a question though. Do you know about the spin-off to Monster High, Ever After High? Do you think you would be interested to repaint the dolls that will be released?

well, I'm putting all my effort on promoting my work in all the social network like DA, tumblr, facebook, etsy and such, and I hope more people will be able to see them in a future
but repainted dolls aren't meant to be mass marketed, they are meant to be unique and personal
YEAH!!! I haven't see much about ever after high because there isn't a lot of info about them yet, but I completely love how the show looks (I mean the art, the animation, the theme, the designs...), and when I see the dolls for sale I want to buy all of them!

I understand about the whole mass market thing. I like that each one is unique. It would ruin them if they were mass marketed. They would lose that special touch. And I agree with you about Ever After High. I've seen the two web episodes and I'm already in love Raven and Maddy Hatter. The concepts are nice and the idea of the keys and legacies has caught my attention. I can't wait for it to offically come out.

I kinda like how much/ how darkly she is blushing, and her ruddy complexion. It makes me think of how red haired people look after a summer of sun

Not sure which is the before or after but I like the one of the right A LOT better. Kind of sloppy on the left. The eyes are wobbly and uneven.

I like your work a lot and I really love how the lips are done, perfect. The only thing I don't like is the color you chose for the eyes, blue just isn't her color lol. But still it looks good ^^ (better than others I've seen for sure)

Wow, Im not really into dolls like this anymore, but Ive gotta say your versions look alot more appealing, they look a lot less 'in your face' they have a kind look about them which makes them look alot more realistic which is what I love

Your repaint is definitely much cuter and sweeter. She does look a tad feverish or sun-burnt, but I don't think that's a huge problem - if anything, it's all the more endearing.

See, I would say the opposite things--I love her cheeks, freckles, eyebrows, and lips, but it looks like you struggled a bit with the eyes. They don't have the evenness and depth of color your other dolls have. I'm slightly confused by the two white dots though? Maybe it's a character thing, I don't know this fandom...The sealant may be a problem, it's hard to tell from the picture, but overall I love the colors you picked. And of course, it looks better than the factory Bratz look.
