Description Here is the first assignment I had to do for my Digital Illustration class. Find a picture of a room and use vectors and all the procedures I learned from class to replicate the room. I used mesh for two things and the rest were gradient, feather, and blur...

So all together this was my first OVERALL use of Adobe Illustrator ever.. ^^

EDIT: I got permission from both!!!!.

Please do not steal this picture, it took me a month to complete this because of my inexperience with Illustrator. I'm going to put a watermark on it soon because my home comp is being mean and not letting me save the watermarked picture.

First of all, this reviewer must confess to knowing nada about the technology involved in the creation of this 'Vector Room'; to someone who's involvement in computer graphics is on a cave-man level this enclosed space is rather an alien world. But a lot of the viewing charm is also derived from said fact.

Now why is that? Rimbaud's famous poetic sentence: "Life is elsewhere." It's easy to wish we were all 'elsewhere', ideally in a comfy room secluded from the grim (or just boring) realities of our own lives. This isn't some new shocking insight, sales figures for 'The Sims' and such other elsewhere fantasies can be pointed to.

So I love this room, plain and simple. See the orange reading chair? I'd be reading there a lot. Maybe I'd need help from Japanses professionals to make the bed every morning, but it'd be worth it. The surroundings outside appear as soothing as anyone could wish for. If anyone wants vibe-wise cinematic references, there's two that springs to mind directly; 'The Ice Storm' by Ang Lee and 'The Brood' by David Cronenberg; both films deal with mental distortion and both are played out against beautiful 1970:ies fall scenery. But this room is more modern than that, even newer than today, which is cool.

This is perfection I believe. An image one should have on the living room wall until one can afford the actual place.

Handing out the ratings stars are always a hassle but today it's going to be quite easy.

Hello. I was drawn to the 'Vector Room' when I first saw the thumbnail in the Critiquable sector. I don't dare to write a critique because I know nothing about the technology used. But it sure is a lovely room. Great!

This is utterly amazing - I really thought it was a photo from the thumb. I can't imagine how many hours this took - you are truly a master of Illustrator to create this! I can never do anything beyond solid coloring with it, but you have taken this to a whole new level!

I sure hope you did well on the assignment!

Thank you! ^^ It's been a while!!! How've you been? lol too many hours to count. Especially when my home comp was dying thanks to the trial version of Illustrator CS4.. oh god. (6 year old HP comp with Illus. CS4... not very pretty.) I wouldn't say master at all. Just experimental novice.. XD and I did very well. ^^V
