Just as Rainbow Sherbert is considered by the island residents as their mother figure, Banana Split is considered the residents' father figure, as he encourages them to be grateful for their accomplishments and to be hopeful of better things to come. Clever and cool as a cucumber, Banana happily commits himself to sustaining the Soft Serve Islands' people, sharing several of his duties with the queen, such as replying to letters sent to him and his wife, attending meetings with the islands' officials, enacting and changing laws, making announcements and the like. Despite the amount of work laid out for him, he serves his role as the king very well, even considering his upbringing. Banana grew up in an orphanage with his blood brother Hot Fudge (who is a year younger than Banana) and their adopted little tortoiseshell brother, Turtle. The three brothers were very close; they took care of one another, played together, ate together and slept together. They all had high hopes of getting adopted into a family and a home to live in together, thus Banana made a promise to his brothers that they would get adopted together no matter what. However, as the brothers got older, life for them was getting more and more difficult. Since more families were preferring only one to two children in their households, it was becoming clear to Banana that he would not be able to keep his promise to his brothers. So, one night, Banana told both Hot Fudge and Turtle that he would leave them in search of his own home. The the two tearfully accepting their big brother's decision, Hot Fudge promised to look after Turtle and that the two of them would get adopted together.
While home-searching, Banana would eventually find a box near a fruit shipping facility and sleep in it with the box closed so that he could have a "roof" over him. Unbeknownst to him, however, his box would be mistaken for a forgotten shipment and would be carried away into a truck heading to Waffle Cone Palace. There, Rainbow would find young Banana in palace kitchen still asleep in one of the boxes. When she woke him up, Banana was surprised to find himself in a different place than before, but was even more surprised to meet the queen in person. Not wanting to be kicked out, Banana explained his entire situation to Rainbow, hoping she would let him stay in the palace for a while. Rainbow would agree, to Banana's delight, but he would have to stay hidden and only on the first floor of the palace.
"If the palace guards catch you, you will be kicked out" said the queen.
Despite a few close calls, Banana would do his best to stay out of sight. He would also help the queen in secret, taking on some of her royal duties as a way to pay her back for her generosity. His excellent assistance to the queen, along with their growing relationship with each other, would ultimately lead to Rainbow revealing Banana to the public before announcing her marriage to him.
Now a mainstay at the Waffle Cone Palace, and a permanent member of the royal family with his very own crown, Banana Split proudly holds his golden staff adorned with a bell and a bow as a symbol of his dream finally coming true. He still thinks of his brothers Hot Fudge and Turtle, hoping to reunite with them one day and invite them to his new home.
