There was a big explosion on the tower in the ending cutscene of the level but you needed to go into theater mode in order to slow it down and pause it.

No this is the ending cutscene from the mission New Alexandria how they were all talking and then Kat said something about atomic excitement and the big explosion happened after Carter asked how close.
