131 - (Bestiary) Bone Digger

CLAWS Field Entry #2   Found exclusively in arid desert environments, the Bone Digger is a crafty ambush predator resembling a large desert cricket. Unlike most crickets, the bone digger is quite a large creature, ranging in size anywhere between that of a large dog or a horse, though the latter is usually rare to see.   The Bone Digger’s exoskeleton is made of a hard white plating that forms an armor-like shell around the creature. The plating around its head has evolved to mimic the shape of a sun-bleached cow’s skull.
    Along with this, the bone digger has two other specially adapted tools that help it thrive. The first is a special pair of front legs similar to that of the mole cricket, which it uses to dig large holes in the desert sand. Once the bone digger has dug a hole large enough to crawl inside, it will bury itself in the sand until the only thing visible is its cow skull-shaped
