Monster 008 - Mockmoth
Biome: Rainforest - Animal Base: Creepy Crawly - Traits: Bioluminescence, outer shell, bangles
About the size of a dinner plate the mockmoth is a highly unusual arachnid type creature. With a hard outer carapace and long spindly legs, it makes it's home high in the rainforest canopy. Two of its legs have converted into non-functional wings, giving it the appearance of a moth. Many birds in the forest feed on moths, and this disguise seems to be a means of attracting the birds it feeds on. A remarkably social creature these arachnids live in large colonies. They communicate with a series of odd clicking sounds they make by rubbing their fangs together, as well as flashes of luminescent colors that come from their "wing" spots. It has also been discovered these creatures have small hordes of shinny objects, most of these items are man made, plastic, or metal things they either store in a tree hollow like a miniature dragon, or sometimes dangle from webs, possibly like a fishing lure for unsuspecting birds.
