Description
Tad grumbled to himself only half listening as a Red adult named Suvash introduced himself and the dojo.
He didn't care much what the adult had to say. It hadn't been his idea to take classes at the dojo in the first place but here he was.
Alma had encouraged him to sign up as a way to "gain more self control and respect for others." Whatever that meant.
He didn't want to get in trouble again so he followed her advice and managed to get into a class.
Still what could be so important about the dojo? All gro's did here were fight and beat each other up.
Fighting wasn't fun. Fighting was senseless. He didn't see any self control or respect about it.
"LET'S PLAY A GAME!" Announced Suvash.
Tad immediately gave the red grow his full attention at the mention of a game. Games were fun.
He listened intently to the instructions and rules. Excitement building.
The rules were simple the blindfolded gro guards the floaty fruit while everyone else tries to get it without being hit.
"Who wants to be blindfolded first?" And Suvash.
Tad joined in the clamor of wyngling's all wanting a chance to protect the Floaty Fruit.
Suvash handed the equipment needed to the nearest student. "Alright, Chang. Let's see how much of your training you remember."
The blue wyngling eagerly took the stuff from Suvash and padded to an open area of the dojo. While the others followed, forming a wide circle around him.
He set the fruit down first. Then padded a ways from it sitting with it it front of him far enough that it wasn't to close but still close enough to whack anyone who came near.
Tad watched patiently trying to think of a way to get the fruit without making any noise. He wanted to win just as much as he dreaded getting hit with the sword.
Padded or not, he was sure it would hurt.
When Chang was ready Suvash called out "Game Start!"
Immediately one of the wynglings padded silently and quickly toward the fruit. Tad was sure that they would get the fruit but was proven wrong when the sword swiftly connected with their shoulder.
The wynling hissed in frustration and went back to the edge defeated. A few more wynglings tried for the fruit only to meet their end with the padded sword.
There was a short gap in activity. Tad felt the intensity in the air and the determination of the remaining wynglings.
"Now or Never" He thought to himself and slowly started to make his way to the fruit from the side. His eyes locked on the wyngling with the sword watching for any signs of movement.
Closer and closer he came till the fruit was temptingly close. He couldn't make any sudden moves if he wanted to avoid Chang's keen hearing.
As he slowly shifted his weight a loud creak sounded from the boards beneath.
Chang immediately twisted around to the side. Tad let his upper half slump to floor, barely dodging as sword swung over head.
Chang listened for half a second then quickly sat back down. Tad held his breath not moving as he tried to slow his heartbeat.
Then frustration began to gnaw his mind. What was he supposed to do now!?

Suvash dismissed the class. Tad said his goodbyes cheerily and walked back towards the nook lost in thought.
The dojo really hadn't been so bad. And the game had been tons of fun. After getting whacked the first time he gotten over his fear of the sword.
It really hadn't hurt like he thought it would. He'd gotten hit quite a few times before he'd finally managed to get the fruit during one game.
He'd even had his own chance to sit in the center, and hadn't done to badly he thought. It was hard to listen for the others and Suvash had been the one to sneak it away from him, but all in all he had fun.
Maybe the dojo wasn't such a bad place after all.

Whew, First week done!
I don't think I've shaded anything it quite some time. Was a good opportunity to play with some brushes I made.
(hence the inconsistencies with the shading)
Overall, I'm quite happy with the piece. And yay! I'm finally drawing Tad.
