just a lil preview of the almost finished second page of the Spawn portfolio i've been building. taking me a lil more time because of those damn fine Gundam00 model kits. at least i'll be back in active service this weekend.oh, and this here lil piece is what i'm using as my brand spanking new avatar...unfortunately it's too small for you guys to see, so i'm letting you have a better view of the art.

i think Spawn having a "template" style is both its advantage and disadvantage. when Todd made the character, it brought a shock to people because of its graphically brooding and dynamic approach. he was able to merge superheroics and horror...although Spawn's a derivative of his work from Spider-man...mixed with Batman and Dr. Strange.
so when Greg Capullo took over, he was basically under the confines of Todd's style. which he later on developed into his own...then Angel Medina came in and followed Greg's. which really drew quite some criticisms. but i really liked how Brian Haberlin turned things around with his bold, more realistic approach. and now with the news that Brian will be stepping down the title...i'm pretty worried that the title's gonna drift away again. although with the teaser art showed, it looks like Whilce Portacio's gonna be taking over the series. hopefully he'll be able to keep up the great work that Brian and David Hine have been awesomely doing on the book.
