Description
another photo from a ghost town~ Bodie, CAUnable to enter the buildings, my photos were taken through windows, or knocked out knot holes in the walls. I scanned the black and white negatives with a transparency/negative adaptor, and switched it to true color...the result being more aged looking. Depending on the film, I got very orange tones or more true grey tones. Hope you enjoy.
This photo was taken through a crack between two boards in the door to this bar. I loved it so much.
I did a bit of cropping, but I didn't want to take anymore of the image away in order to get rid of the blurry part (on the left side) Oh well. Let me konw what you think.

Thank you again for all your wonderful comments to my ghost town photos. I took these shots in Bodie, California. This town was once the 2nd largest city in California during the goldrush era of the late 1800's. A booming city with a lot of greed and death. The cemetary book shows so many deaths of small children, and also death by poison or gunshots. I guess with riches comes a lot of greed. There are only about 5% of the buildings still standing, and it is a state park now, with a few on site rangers. there are only a couple buildings that are open for people to walk into...the rest of the buildings are preserved only by weathered wood and aged glass. This place intrigues me...I've been there twice, and although it is a 4 hour drive...I would love to spend even more time there. here is a link to the website if you would like to look up more info...[link]
Thank you for your interest.

Very nice photo! I can easily imagine prospectors and outlaws sitting in those barstools drinking whiskey. As others already said, it even looks like it was take back in the late 1800s. Great job!

Wow. It looks great. I really like that blurry part. It gives this "I remember when I was young and there was a bar"-feeling to this picture.

I love this photo, and I think the blur on the edge gives it a subtle, ancient look that adds to the piece really well. Great job!

I can't believe there are places like this that were abandoned and just left like this. It looks so cool! I wish I could visit these ghost towns...

I'm sure you can find some beautiful places in Canada. But most ghost towns are in desert areas...uhmm not to many deserts in Canada eh? Come visit California!!!

awsome perspective - great job =- its a classic photo
i'm big on super thin frames b/c they detract less from the image and let the image stand by itself - that's my only cnstructive criticism

thanks for the cc, the watch, and the favorites. Yeah I started putting frames on some of my stuff, because in some cases I think it makes the image pop out a little more. I understand what your saying though. The frame can send its own message, and it shouldn't overpower the image. Thanks again.

this is really good
honestly..
the tones are fantastic..
and shooting through the window wasn't such a bad thing after all...because you still got a nice angle there.

myuh In reply to NSH [2004-06-09 14:05:48 +0000 UTC]
yeah I tried getting different angles from the two surrounding windows, but the door in the middle had a few good sized cracks, with the best angle of all. I loved that bar soo much. It was just so welcoming...even though it was so lonely at the same time.

Thank you so much for your comments. Yeah that far bottle in the blurry edge is one of the reasons that I didn't want to crop any more of the edge off. Like I said I took the photo through a crack in the door, and the edge of the wood was caught on the left. Thanks for your thoughts...Mmmm ghost beer. Yummy
