Description Loki: I am Loki, of Asgard and I am burdened with glorious purpose. I come with glad tidings of a world made free.
Nick Fury: Free from what?
Loki: Freedom. Freedom is life's great lie. Once you accept that, in your heart... you will know peace.
The Avengers

Tom Hiddleston as Loki from The Avengers. In case you were living in an internetless batcave these past months.

I've had this bottled up ever since I saw The Avengers in May. Because I was graduating I didn't have time to draw, or do anything else but reading, writing and revising. So I'm only now coming to a point where I can deal with my Loki feelings.

I really liked how the ref was that dark, but (as usual) I regretted it soon enough when I had to make those dark hues myself. Now I'm going to wash all the graphite and charcoal off, and try to get all the cramped muscles back into place.

As I enjoy adding fuel to internetfires, I kept it undefined whether his eyes are green or blue. (Discuss.)

I'm glad you've finally coped with the Loki feelings, I'd not like to see you explode

I like it very much [although, I must be frank towards you, I still don't get everyone's phase about The Avengers. I just don't ]. The face isn't definitely flat, we can see it's built of muscles. Great job on highlighting some parts, like the tip of the nose, cheeks, some parts of the ears. Good you put so many details in his eyes and lips. I can see you poured your passionate feelings into this drawing

Doing my best not to explode here. But you know how it works: it comes and goes.

Thank you! Those are the parts I'm most satisfied with myself, to be honest. Especially the eye. Lots of feelings there.

I like how the internet is mostly a place where I can scream my feelings about things to other people.

Hey, if that man can turn into a woman and a horse, he can probably change his eye colour, too.

Hnnnnng. <3 This is brill. I feel bad for being stuck with my Lokis. >_>

Turns out he liked changing into a fish and an old woman as well. Though I guess his eye colour was affected by the Glowstick of Destiny, like Hawkeye. I just don't think he was 'being controlled' and had no guilt in almost wiping out a whole race as some fangirls on Tumblr keep claiming. The whole point of Loki is that he does shit because he feels like being a dick, so that probably involves getting mindcontrolled because it seemed fun at the time.

ANYWAY. Thank you!! I have the opposite problem: I want to draw more Lokis but I can't decide on which ref to draw first.

Coin-flipping tournament? Or just pick one at random. Although both of these options might not work if you're a freak like me. For me, the refs have to feel right, otherwise I get bored easily.

Nah same here. I printed some refs on Monday but I already regret it because they have started to feel... not right.

I really like the shadings of his face, it is very complex and well drawn. I especially like his eyes, not only because of the touch of colour, but also because of the details around the eye. I just miss the overall skin texture a bit, for me it looks a bit too flat. But I can imagine your scanner let some of the details of your drawing disappear, didn't it?

N0rks In reply to Blacleria [2012-11-15 19:42:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I spent a lot of time on his eye and the details around it, so good to hear they're noticed!

Hmm yeah my scanner ate some shading, but there also isn't much skin texture. I still find it hard to give skin (and clothing or textiles in some cases) texture, or wrinkles when it comes to skin. I'm trying to work in more and more small parts of (skin) texture (like around his eyes) so I can still practise without ruining the entire drawing. Thanks for the feedback, good to hear!
