Have you seen my scars?How many have you seen?
Do you know how I got them?
Do you know what they mean?
Do you know how it feels,
To truly hate yourself,
To be afraid to open up,
Though you know that you need help?
Have you ever felt the pain,
Of being left behind,
As one by one your friends disappear
And dark thoughts fill your mind?
Have you ever confided in,
A friend you thought was true,
Only to realize you scared her away,
And she no longer talks to you?
Have you ever blamed yourself,
For simply being you,
For all those stupid things,
You always seem to do?
Have you ever been called ugly,
By some guys you barely knew,
And started to believe,
That what they said was true?
Do you ever wonder,
That if you were not there,
If those people you call friends,
Would notice or even care?
If you looked into my eyes,
Could you understand,
That all I've ever needed,
Was for you to hold my hand?

At the time you wrote this, your entire being was in pain. Do you know how many great artists suffered from depression? I hope so. If not, look it up. I love this work you're doing to help spread the word. Whether people understand or not, I do not know. But I hope so. These could be my words but never so eloquently written. I imagine you have made a lot of friends here on dA. I'm glad you're alive. I'm glad you are you. I am glad you are here. Thank you.
