Description
Well this was a nice experiment, is all poly modeling done in blender also rendered in blender with the internal engine but using nodes and some post processing, was a learning experience and now I found a lot of stuff I m lacking so at least know where to focus to improve on, and to find how the proper workflow.please let me hear your critiques and pointers so I can improve ^^
Gisselle from and his webcomic petsuccubus.smackjeeves.com/ check it out

The only thing I know about blender is that some liken it to Zbrush, and it's relatively looked down upon for being kind of junky. This here is pretty good work, so that seems to contradict the belief that it realy that bad. But then again I don't know how long it took you to make that. Honestly Its taken me well over 80 hours to make a character model of similar detail in 3DS and I'm still not done yet, so if it took you less time then that, it still trumps 3DS in terms of speed modeling and texturing for detail. As I cant see your Mesh, I have no idea how cleanly it works though.
Whats your poly/face count like?

Well I do like blender but it does have some shortcomings, specially as some workflow is not the best some stuff is relatively cumbersome and the tools are not as refined as in the top commercial applications (like zbrush), that said these shortcomings are not that huge either in most cases, and blender has some strong points too.
in conclusion from what I heard yea Zbrush is better than blender but for most stuff blender should be more than enought to realize the task at hand.
for the model I think I can make a model like this in less than 40 hours, did not time myself because I was learning a lot about shading and texturing, also hit a wall when baking normal maps since I found that for this model my low poly model needed more topology in certain areas, well since I m self thought is normal to run into these problems once i na while.
for looking at the model you can visit this sketchfab link: skfb.ly/CGZJ
the model there is a slightly older version than the one rendered (changed the hands, and minor tweaks) is with 1 or 2 subdivision applied the low poly model was around 5K faces.

Ha he Ha... Zbrush... Ha ha. Refined... HAHAHAAHAHAHA!
Zbrush is honestly the most horrifically designed program I've ever seen. The controls work like no other program on the planet it doesn't behave in some of the most basic manners you should expect.
It takes away your task bar! So if you want to have your task bar you have to use it minimised, but then you cant grab it and drag it around. You have to inch worm it across the screen, resing it larger and smaller to get it to the positions you want.
Guess how you Zoom. You never will!
You hold ALT then you right click, then you pan with the mouse a little, then you let go of ALT. You litterally have to let go of a button to make call up a function. It also gets better. ALT+Right Click, pans the Camera, letting go of ALT switches you to Zoom and forgets your pan. So you can painstakingly pan over to the exact spot you want to work on, but watch out, if you let go of ALT first by mistake, you'll Zoom out of your origional position, and be forced to Zoom back in, to then pan back to your previous position.
And the Pain doesnt stop there.
Zbrush is alot of things, but Refined isn't one of them.

XD well I did not meant the user interface, that´s what been keeping me from using Zbrush, but the actual tools for sculpting modeling and baking.

Yes Zbrush has some crazy awesome thing in it. If you want to see something that will make your mouth water, look up a tutorial on Z Spheres. They are so increadible.

Whoa, nice render. Since when were you making 3-D characters?

I been gettign into 3D modeling for a while for 3D printing, as a side thing, now startign to get more deeper into it now to what is texturing and shaders and stuff.
I even have some 3D prints for sale

Little question.
How far would you be from making a colorless, 3D-printable model of this character, hypothetically?

Actually I kind of can do that already, did it for another character already shpws.me/ELtI
For 3D printing I would make some changes tough, depending on the scale of the model I learned a bit since.

Yeah, I see that! She looks pretty good.
And I got a sudden curiosity of like... could you do a figurine like that, but bigger or smaller?
Like say, 50mm tall instead of 100?
(More asking for a hypothetical commission then a request for this one)
