Description
This is without a doubt the question I've been asked the most over the years. And it's a good question! Exactly how do you price your commissions? How do you decide what's fair to charge?
Contrary to popular belief, there is no magic 8 ball that'll spit out the perfect number for you.
However, there is a magical formula.
You can read all about it here.

Thank you but my art isn't as good as yours and no one would buy my art for 60 bucks way better artist sell theirs for 5 bucks

Don't know if it was some sort of glitch, but when I visited it had a dark image in the background, with dark text above. Went back and it was fixed though.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how many hours do you usually spend on a commission?
Your formula for figuring out the price is perfect but I am pretty untrained compared to people who are in the business for long so I spend (waayyy) too much time on a commission while there are people who can do it in less time with a similar quality. I try to figure out how to have a more efficient work flow but in the meantime I don't want to overcharge for these extra hours so I try to get a feeling for how long other artists take.

I dont mind! I spend roughly 5-7 hours on a portrait, and up to 16-20 hours on a halfbody. A bust can be anything in between. And that's just the time spent drawing, not researching references or staring at the canvas trying to figure out what the heck to do next.
As for our type of artstyle, it'll just take a long time. Can't always rush it. Don't worry about overcharging - worry about getting paid for the time and effort you put into a piece! There is no such thing as over-charging in this industry.

Thank you so much! ^^ It's great to hear that, the art friends I have are great but don't have the same style as us so it's hard to compare to them.
Thank you for the tips, I'll keep it in mind and ask more money from now on haha!

Sadly I don't think the formula can apply to every artist.
Drawn artists perhaps. But in the community of 3D stuff, such would never fly.

Granted I only know 1 3D artist who takes commissions but she charges appropriately for the work she's doing.
