Is it ok if I still like more the original one? I mean, the new one has correct proportions, the coloring and a more realistic style, yet the amount of detail in the first one is still compelling.

No that would be totally fine! In terms of design I think the old one is a bit "over done" but certainly the new one needs some of the details from the old one ^^ You're absolutely right!
