I've been a bit quiet of late here on dA. There's been a reason for that though. I've been working on a series of holiday themed postcards for the illustrious Ponydora *Prancypants , who will be posting on them his Fimfiction blog over the next week or so, starting with this one .Happy Holidays, and Dash .. uh.. snow.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. it's actually PoweredByTea. I just created this account to thinking I'd preserve,Β for prosperity,Β pictures of pony princesses I'd found via favouritesβin much the same manner as I created a fimfiction account to do the same for stories. But Deviantart wouldn't let me rename this account without paying.

So it seems I'm coming at these pieces in the wrong order XD I see Rarity and her yellow scarf wandering off in the background there sans shopping bags. :3 This first little detail is fantastic as it gives a continuity between the two pieces and that just gives an even larger feeling of scope to the works. :3 About this piece in particular, though, we see RD displaying her trademark awesomeness and giving the expression that says she is totally in the zone. There's a fantastic feeling of motion here, obviously, with her rainbow contrail and all the snow flying about, especially the one flying right at the viewer! I guess now I see what happened to all the snow on the streets in the next piece. XD It looks like Thunderlane didn't consider this method before, seeing his shocked expression. :3

Yeah, fun story, I actually came up with a sort of continuity for the whole set when I originally sketched them all out. It didn't really last past the point where I restarted two of them from scratch, but you can still see the remnants of it in the background nods.
Making this one was a blast. I had Dash's face there for most of the process. As for Thunderlane, I read some of the Andy Price comics at some point shortly before this, and all the extreme facial expressions kinda stuck with me.
