So, how do you get those beautiful clean pencil lines in the first place? =O
(My work is just too sloppy to ink this way. )

So I hate to be negative, but this really isn't digital inking. It's a really fast and sloppy way to make pencils digitally black. To me when some wants to use the word 'inked' or 'inking' (digital or traditional) it should refer a process where they are actual DRAWING and finishing an illustration.

Using levels and filters to clean up and darken a piece is digital processing. You're not making any artistic decisions, only technical ones. Your sole goal here was 'I want to make this black.' Which is fine if your only desire is to get on to coloring and you don't care about line quality or enhancing the line art.

The craft of inking is about building on and improving the pencil sketch. Deciding what lines, lighting and textures will best finish the illustration and help make the art be the best it can be. True digital inking is no different then traditional inking and there are artist who do it very well. Brian Boland, Freddie Williams II, Jonathan Glapion . These guys aren't using levels and filters as short cuts to 'make the pencils black'. That is not what the ART of inking is about.

Please have enough respect for other people's art and learn how to actual ink and finish an illustration (digitally or traditionally) or at least do us the courtesy of naming your process what it actual is, 'digital pencil blackening'.

Again I'm not trying to be rude. You're on my watch list, I like what you do with color. You did a great job with the colors on this piece, but I can't let you call this 'inking' because it is not.

Thank you for comment. Please have a look at this : [link] maybe you'll understand that for me this 'inking' is a part of my artistic job! You hurt me when you tell this part is not artistic. For me it is. Because of last point (from tuto). Maybe this point take more time than the other. My goal is to have a colorful job, and I need to transform the lines into a ink version. The inked version was seen by the author 4 times to be sure I keep his feeling with the drawing and the version was updated to have 100% good result.
I hope you understand we don't have the same translation for inking, but we both do a personal artistic job. You ask to respect your job, but you don't repsect mine... Sorry to be rude.
Have a nice day.

I completely understand that this is your process and I am not saying that it is not art. It is and I have no problem with that. You do great work.

I know you are mainly a color artist and that you often have pencil art work to color and this makes it easier to color. That is fine. I just don't feel you should call this process inking, because it doesn't have all the elements that a tradition inking method would.

Again I'm not trying to disrespect your art, I'm just trying to defend the word 'inking'.
