You know, I think I'll almost always use Dall for any kind of OC game/contests.
This is also the closest thing you'll ever get to a ref for them.
I'd like to make refs of all my characters, but apparently I suck by being un-motivated so yeh...Duh, here's a quicky then:
Chara on the right is Morit, a little girl...does she look like a girl enough? She is physically weak, but she has lots of "magic" powah.
Dall on the other hand is just weird, for those of you who remember him from my endzone audition, that was silly Dall. I've just drawn more serious Dall, though he's usually more silly.
They count as one person, because Morit can't get far without Dall carrying her. And Dall can't get far without her either, after all his 1st priority is her safety.
No, he's not her servent, he followed her on his own free will.
Please don't talk about how badly this is shaded or so,
I slapped this togater realy quickly. XD;

Aw, I love how unsteady Morit looks, like she's about to fall down any second. You really did a great job of positioning the feet.
As for her looking like a girl, I think the gender-neutral hair and clothing might lead to most people assuming she's a boy. I think the design's adorable, though. (Slightly creepy, too, in that whispering-child kind of way...)

Ye, I think she is a bit more gender-neutral, but what did you think when you first saw her?
((Frankly, she was originally a boy untill I decided I have way too less female characters and that it suited her better.))

And speaking of designs, Dall amuses by just looking at him me, I tell you he's a great character XD With a hat, which is even better.

as well as the umbrella he carries for show. (I didn't draw that in this time).

Hmmm... if you want a character to look feminine, you must first work on the shape of the head and eyes, as these seem to be the most important.

Eh, usually it requires a rounder face. I'm not so sure about the eyes, but they tend to more round as well. However, if it's female eyes, the proper word I'm looking for is soft.
Being stereotypical sometimes helps. Little cute girls have great big round eyes, strong female characters have stern eyes, etc. You just have to think about it and work it out.

Without the top hat he'd look a lot like Zangetsu from Bleach, Dall would. I love how raggedy he is. XD
And Morit just seems a bit creepy if you look her in the eyes. :0 I shouldn't be doing that, should I?

Raggedy is the word, as well as grimy, for both of them. o.o
I swear, if I get to draw a scene or some kind of story with these two it would be very grimy indeed.

Yeah despite Dall and Zangetsu's physical resemblances, they seem like they're on entirely polar opposite ends of the sanity bar. Ha ha. Nutterdall. As long as you can keep Dallamrr's goofiness apparent nobody will think you're coldly ripping off of Zangetsu with the utmost of intentions. :B
That said, would you say your dearest goggle-wearing character had any influence from the Mad Hatter?

But I can understand you didn't wanna rip off Zangetsu, same way I didn't want to rip off of DiZ (KH2, d'oh) when drawing "Like the Umbrae." Essentially, the frown and weighted lead cuffs are all that separate that from DiZ.

I never had Zangetsu in mind when I drew Dall, so if anyone else is gonna bring something about the similarties up....

I'll be honest, the grueling, horrific, addled fandom around KH2 really sullies it. The game itself is absolutely amazing. But if you don't wanna give it a thorough shot, np. Everybody's got different tastes.

and by that I mean just getting there.
Anyhow, as I'm playing I just feel uneasy for some strange reason. D:
