Description
Ulises and a 2-year-old little girl who was a little too curious. She was staring in awe when Uli swam by.To me, this symbolizes the next generation of humans being educated about these amazing creatures in not only their majesticness and size, but also the sadness and possible inferiority that they experience (what Uli must be feeling). These two come from two different worlds- one from the world where he was ripped from his family and placed in a theme park where he is forced to submit to human authority; the other from a world where she's sheltered by a family that loves her that she can run back to whenever she feels scared or alone.
Is this really the future? To keep such a clever, cunning and graceful animal deprived of its natural ability to fend for itself and confined to four glass/concrete walls while the next generation of humans grows up observing that it's okay to look on and watch while everyone around him/her is screaming "Shamu! It's Shamu," and be completely unaffected?
I choose to stay on the fence when it comes to the controversy between pro and anti-captivity, but I think it's time I voice my anti-cap opinion for once. This is something I ponder a lot, and when I look at this photo, I can't help but feel a great amount of pain for these animals and question whether it truely is okay to put their lives in our hands when our greed exponentially increases by the decade... What's going to happen to these animals when we, as if we ever really could in the first place, can't properly care for them and they go extinct because of our selfishness and belittlement of their God-given ability to be what they are- KILLER WHALES.
We've learned so much from cetaceans in the last half-century, even though so many have died, we've come as far as finding ways to re-populate a species by artificial insemination (so the parents never actually have to meet) and figuring out how easily it is to manipulate them to do what we want by means of bribery and/or withholding their food. But is it possible that, now, we've gone too far? Is this really what we want our children to be exposed to- oppression just to prove that we're the dominant species? Or is this just simply our attempt at playing God?

I'm not for captivity. In fact i think it shouldn't be the way it is now. I hate the colour of the tanks. Plain blue and that's not similar to a natural ocean enviroment. This photo says so much!

You are right. Humans make animals do these things just to say: You know what, I can make this big whale jump on my signal just by shaking my hand. Cool, what? May this picture remind us about that it is possible to meet each other in friendship and respect even if we come from two different worlds. It began with the humans with a different colour of skin and culture. Now it is the animals turn to suffer under our selfish rule. Is it really fair that we destroy their green, beautyful world just to build our own rules for there the tree is allowed to grow? What do we give instead? Big houses and other projects that pollute the earth underneath? We own Mother Nature so much and if we begin to think very soon, our really big debt grows bigger and bigger. New generation, learn from the other good worlds that still exist while they still do. Before it's too late.
This picture tell so much.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you agree with the point I was trying to make. It's so good that others notice what human rule is doing to our planet and how much our influence really does affect the future of our world (and who/what will be living in it 50 years from now).

I think about it everytime I wake in the forest and see some trash two step from a trashcan or plastic bags in the water. Where the ducks and ducklings swim! They could be caught in it! It is making me angry that some people just can't see it! It is like giving your child the wrong food. Everyone can see it except you. Clever human? Clever in building, hopeless in rebuilding.

Well said. I completely agree. Greed and laziness are the two overpowering traits that humans possess, especially when it comes to animals, which is just so ironic to me. I'll never understand.

Nature was here before us. Once a apon a time millions of years ago human gave the area they lived some time to rebuild it self. They used the things that was where. It is now to late to go back there. Instead we could try to save the few miracles that are still left. Before it is too late.
I am a rider and have a horse of my own, so I use an eksample from there. Humans love to ride horses. Why not make it as naturally to the horse as possible? Take off the bit, do something to the horse that shows that you will do something return. Let him or her show you how he or she expect from the rider. Take of the halter, bit and saddle. You are now left with one thing only: The truth. Pat Parelli said this. If we give the animals more natural homes, then we would see something beautyful in the shows. A friendship between human and animal that is stronger than the animals natural feeling of freedom. Imagine it. A killerwhale at open see come to the human in the boat. Show the human what it can do. Jump, rolling around and come to hand and let her touch the skin with no fear. The problem here would be that those who only see the money instead of a living creature would kill it in this way. Get the trust and kill it. Why are there always someone who destroy all beauty?!

Fantastic photo, and I love your opnion. ^_^ I think, the Orcas who enjoy their jobs are the ones who don't go crazy and eat their trainers. It's kinda like riding horses. If they didn't enjoy being groomed or ridden, well I think we'd all be kicked in the heads a lot more. Either way, Love it. Very powerful photo.
