Description This was done over a year ago and I just now pulled it out of my closet. Drawn on a 18X24 in. sketch pad.

I'm not a real religious person or anything, but I thought that it would be fun to draw a picture with some of the world's main religions. The bleeding hands symbolize Christianity. Up top there the symbols for Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Wicca, and Sikhism not in any specific order. The giant hands symbolize mankind's corruption of religion, and how we all suffer from it. The bleeding rose symbolizes our suffering. I have no clue what the key holes are for. I'm just obsessed with keys and such ^_____^

As for the eye, well, I don't know. It's just there Maybe it's the eye of God. I had fun coloring it.

Mediums: Prismacolor pencil, ps for brightness contrast and crop.

I love what you did here... I tend to use symbolism in some of my pictures too, and it is quite interesting to let others figure out the meaning. However, the problem is that practically nobody stops to look at the picture for a longer time and think about its meaning.
I think too that nowadays many people are misusing the religion... the more believers a religion has got, the more it is misused. If everyone thought up their own religion, the situation would be much better. Religion should be there to help individuals with their lives, not to unite people under one flag, that is sort of dangerous... and that is what is happening now and what has been happening a lot in the past as well.
But how are people supposed to invent their own religion, when their whole life they are not even thinking for themselves any more? They just accept all sorts of advertisements, they take what the media tell them as true... without stopping to think about it. It is only an illusion of freedom and people are satisfied with it. People are always saying how bad regimes like communism are, but as long as they are manipulated in a more subtle way, they do not seem to care any longer.
I believe that being able to think independently and freely is becoming a rare asset.
Oh yes, I wanted to say something more about the picture : The way you coloured it is absolutely wonderful, I think you should definitely do more traditional work!

Wow! Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was trying to get across-you have the meaning down! It makes me so happy that there are people out there that can understand art like this-I was pretty stressed out at the time-and it was a release for me-emotionally.

It's pretty difficult here in this world-because everybody is so scared about speaking out-and most of the time I don't blame them-because they either have their freedom taken away or their lives get turned upside down from terrorism. It's a pretty sad reality.

I'm all about acceptance of whatever religion people have-that's their choice to believe in what they believe in-and I think that if people stop trying to convert others into their own belief patterns then all of our ridiculous wars would be solved.

This world is in desperate need of Unconditional Love and Understanding.

I love this one soo much! It's one of my absolute favorites! There is so much symbolism in this picture. The colours-how they all fade to black eventually is much like all religions. No matter how inncoent they start eventually everything fades to darkness. The eye and the pyramid of fire around it is really neat. The colouring is great. Strikes me as tho the greater being/s is/are watching, waiting but biding their time and letting us go the path we must. Whether it be of good or evil in end.
The key holes ROCK! I think they represent what could be. Gateways to another place of time maybe the past at crossroads that we should have taken. Or perhaps to the Lands Beyond. It's so lovely. *LURV!!!!*

This is one of my favorites too ^___^ Religions all have their ups and downs-It's all up to the person to choose which rules/guidelines to follow. I think it's best when people pick what works for them and just ignore things that make them feel uncomfortable. That's just how I personally feel about worship and stuff. I agree about greater beings watching us-we're not alone!

definetely! Even if it is just the aliens lol. It' sad when people are blinded by their faith, from that prejudice is borne. lol my mom was jewish and my dad was christian and all us kids ended up going diffrent paths. It's neat that we are given the choice. I enjoy that very much. ^-^
I agree, if your not comfy with something then maybe it's not for you. Learning about different religions is a great experience though.
