Description
[Tags: Weight Gain, Anthro, Inflation, Bursting]January 29th, 2004. Fatalities are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. The entirety of Tianan City has been devastasted from the result of a "bomb-like" blast, a large majority of the buildings now either unrepairable or completely destroyed. The regional economy is in tatters, trust in the government has hit an all time low.
What follows next contains instances of speculation on the South Asian scientific community's behalf.
The subject- who will be referred to under the codename "Kendra" from here on out- is said to have been born sometime between early 1990 and late 1991, reaching maturity around 4 years before the incident.[1] She was estimated not to bear any children prior to her demise.
It all began when local marine biologists had noticed a sharp decrease in the number of giant squids, a notably integral part of the sperm whale's natural diet. After some consideration, an educated assumption was made: the species was being hunted to the point of near-extinction by these whales. While this was a very plausible hypothesis, it was far from the truth.
Leading up to the new millennium, many vacation cruise-line firms had reported to government agencies about what they felt was a state-of-the-art submarine. As one supervisor put it:
[After a low-budget screen-blur transition, we see a blonde male adorned in his nautical outfit. He appears to be American. More specifically, Californian.]
"I just had no idea. See, back then I only had 3 routes to keep track of: the San Fran (sic)-Hawaii route, the San Diego-Guatemala route, and the LA-Shanghai route. That last one always seemed a little off to me, because at least once during each cruise I'd see this weird, uh, *shadow* following the ship from behind, like it's waiting to attack at any moment. It was far too determined to be any sort of animal, so we all thought the same thing: 'Hey, I think the commies are still trying to spy on us.' Believe me, that was a really silly thing to think in retrospect, but keep in mind the USSR had just fallen. There was still some paranoia floating about like 'ooh, what if they're out to get us?' That, and the shape of this thing. I swear, It got bigger each trip. Now that we at least kinda know what it was, it makes sense.Thing must've gorged itself on whatever it could find every day. Went from half the width of our boat to nearly 6 times that in only a year or two. You'd have to be blind not to notice it.
Kendra's first true public sighting came in November 9th, 2001, being spotted less than 100 miles off the coast of Papa New Guinea. A commercial-grade fishing boat was operating as per it's standard procedure, collecting their usual quota of fish to later wholesale. At 2:37 AM that morning, the boat was approached by a foreign mass. Due to poor safety regulations, there was little lighting on deck to view what was quickly approaching. At that moment, what one fishermen described as a "deep-sea beast" leaped from the water, causing the ocean to created meter-high ripples as it broke the surface. We had the pleasure to interview one of the many workers on that fishing boat as the scene unfolded.
[The camera then cuts to scraggly-bearded, grey-haired man, approximately in his 50s. While he is speaking in a foreign accent, the subtitles displayed at the bottom of the screen provide an English translation.]
"It was terrifying. We were all minding our own business and trying to make an honest living, nobody could have anticipated such a monster to come out of nowhere like that. I'm still shaken by the sight, yet I remember it vividly. A lumpy, grey underbelly that looked like it would belong on an obese person. Many parts of it looked oddly human, yet... not. Human in shape, a whale in size and appetite. My friend cried on my shoulder about how he was afraid about not seeing his family again."
Thankfully for those humble workers, Kendra was merely looking for a light snack that day. The boat rocked side to side, threatening to capsize with each attempt the crazed creature made. After 15 traumatizing minutes, Kendra had finally vacated the area- but not before knocking and entire shipping container worth of caught fish overboard, gobbling up any bit she could.
"I just thank God none of us perished on that day."
Some were not so lucky.
December 1st, 2003. For a local manufacturing plant, this day would go down in history as it's darkest hour. A gas line had been severed at some unknown point earlier during the day, flooding the building with noxious, incredibly flammable fumes ready to ignite at any moment. One lit cigarette was all it took for the entire plant to smolder to a fine crisp. All the workers ran outside, many of them making their way to the ocean as quickly as possible.
Little did they know, a nasty surprise awaited. Kendra had come back to feast again, and hungrier than ever. This time, out for human flesh. Once the relieved survivors had mistakenly gone too far out to sea, they swiftly were wiped from existence. Not a single drop of blood was shed. The utterly engorged specimen launched itself forward, inhaled anything in it's path, then retreated back to the salty blue ocean. Within seconds, dozens of people had been dragged off into the endless vortex that was Kendra's stomach. To put that figure into perspective: the average man in the South Asian region weighs approximately 125 pounds. Using the official count of 18 casualties, it's an accurate estimate to assume she had eaten over two *thousand* pounds in a single bite. Truly, a terrifying statistic. Thankfully for the rest of mankind, this reign of terror wouldn't last much longer.
These attacks continued nearly daily over the next month. Sometimes even multiple times a day, given the right conditions. The horrorshow that was Kendra continued to swell in size, no doubt thanks to her unmatched gluttony. Her weight bulked up by the hundreds after each meal, adding onto her already legendary hide. Not even the longest, nor sharpest of harpoons stood a chance against the seemingly mile-thick layer of blubber that Kendra possessed. Attacks had reached such a level of notoriety within a handful of weeks, that the military stepped in. Despite their best efforts and innumerable rounds of artillery fire, nothing was able to kill the unstoppable force.
Ultimately, the only thing that could bring an end to Kendra, was Kendra herself.
As the sun rose on the fated day, the roving landmass had become exactly that. A massive, oversized, trash barge of a being. It's waistline far surpassed that of any cruiseliner running at the time. The beach had been completely deserted, the nearby town's denizens fully aware of the risks that would come about from stepping foot on the typically-warm sands.

5:36 PM, on the dot.
Kendrea, apparently having yet another hunger pang, attempted to launch herself upon the city's mainland. She flew through the air with all the grace of a swan, and the destructive power of a ICBM. The latter was proved when she crash-landed, flopping her hideously distended figure atop an entire block of land. The sharpened topmost sky-needles attached to the skyscraper's rooftops hardly posed a challenge to Kendra's invincible leather, the razor array bending as if it were mere copper wire. The buildings beneath hadn't fared much better, sinking far into the sea of flesh before crumbling to bits. In a single swoop, the monster sealed the fate of hundreds.
Now catapulted hundreds of feet away from the ocean's embrace, Kendra visibly strained herself trying to gather up as many panicking civilians as she could. Masses writhed between two cold hands, into the gaping void of it's maw. The grey, terrifyingly enormous flanks of this unknown entity, this utter disgrace to evolution, billowed out to the side as she laid upon her flabby abdomen. It's stretched hide bore a water-like consistency, much like the water she had arisen from. Jiggling and heaving forth, wave after wave rippling with each grotesque motion.
This would continue for some time.
Within the next 5 minutes, it's head flopped forward. Exhausted from exerting so much energy, it was ready to return home and digest her latest feast in full. Planting both palms upon the ground, she tried to push herself up. The ground nearby her mighty girth trembled, arms digging into the ground as they attempted to raise her expanse. Although- *attempts* are just that. Despite the thick ring of muscle-fat mixture, it was a futile effort. Kendra had quickly become panicked upon the realization, thrashing about in a last-ditch effort to get back into the salty wilderness. In a strange twist of fate, it was now her prey's duty to get this eyesore out of sight in any way possible.
It was immediately agreed upon not to simply release it back into the ocean, lest her reign of terror continue. What were they to do, then? After much thought and consideration, an armada of cranes was commissioned to deliver her to the nearest canning facility. There, she would be sliced and diced up to feed the population for years to come. The construction vehicles lined up side-by-side, completely surrounding Kendra. There was nowhere to run now. Rather, nowhere to swim. A series of long forks attached to the cranes made it relatively easy for the turreted machines to slide beneath it's heft. Once the numerous prongs interlocked from all sides, they all began to lift upward. Slowly but surely, Kendra had been high-centered upon the makeshift matrix.
Kendra's relief turned to anxiety, then desperation as the fleet dragged her out further from the sea. It yet again feebly shuffled around the steadily-moving platform, a barely-noticeable inching being the only form of motion coming from it. In truth, all of it's energy had been exhausted during the process of hording humans into her gullet and then failing to bring itself back to the ocean. All it could do was await it's inevitable demise, too worn out to so much as raise a finger. It remained there, small portions of fat seeping through the few holes in the pan.
The crew working below had to exercise a great deal of caution, taking a slow route with the shortest houses possible. While Kendra had been lifted many feet into the air, it was hardly enough to clear the various skyscrapers in the city. Crowds following the spectacle cheered on the oncoming end to the menace. Ice cream was quick to melt in the scorching summer heat, beating down from above. [2]
...
Something didn't sit right within Kendra, her face shifting from one of solemn regret to a much more pained one, wincing in a dull discomfort. The bystanders in the audience were subjected to a concerning series of groans coming from somewhere within Kendra. The exact location of the noise was difficult to tell given her size, but one thing was for sure: it was following the bloated whale. Such sweltering warmth took a heavy toll on her. Unlike humans, many water-based organisms don't tend to have the ability to sweat. Kendra was obviously no exception. Over the course of only an hour, Kendra's internal temperature had predictably skyrocketed. Any remaining seawater remaining on her tightening surface had evaporated into nothingness. Kendra's internal juices had been brought to a sizzle, vaporizing soon after.
Another hour had passed, and so had the crowd's hype. Only a few continued to watch the ongoing slog. The creature's eyes long since glazed over in a nauseous daze. This much was clearly visible. The plate that had so comfortably hosted her already-massive body began to not quite fit too well. Gasses built up exponentially, stretching every inch of her digestive system to it's maximum. Yet, there was nothing Kendra, nor the rest of the tensed staff could do. They worked to get her to the factory as soon as possible, but it was still a handful of miles away. Kendra, still wearing the same defeated glance, had been turned into nothing more than a sack of gas. One that could go off at the slightest pin's prick. Some even say she had a faint translucency to her, but these claims are unverified.
Just then, an ominous sound rang throughout the entire city's eardrums.
"Crrrrrrrk..."
One of the cameras was able to capture Kendra's eyes rolling upward one last time.
Bwoooosh.

This was very well done. I'm a sucker for documentary/found footage monster stories and combined with belly stuffing and a messy ending? Perfect~ This seems like it could be the beginning to a Pacific Rim esq world of giant monster girls and mankind trying to fight back against their never-ending appetites, haha! Great job!
