I've been using Adobe apps. I have gimp but haven't mastered it yet. I still haven't figured out how to do the shiny mask look yet. I've only been able to basic green faces.

Oh, Im not sure i can help you well, not that good at gimp and those tool apps, but you can make shiny effect or lighting by using Lens flare, Curve and just simple white feather brush with opacity-adjusted.

In my simple ways, just copy the mask's texture from the movie scene wherever you want, and place it on her green face to make it more realistic. Also with some adjustments.
