my halloween look last weekend
simple but quite convincing if i may say so myself. reactions where priceless.
when people saw me driving my car their jaws dropped xD
went to the movie theatre aswell, wich is always really crowded during halloween night. making a low grunting noise so people look over their shoulders and get spooked was pretty fun.
also some people would just keep on staring and come closer to see wich part is mask and wich isnt
it's a zipper glued to my face and blended with skin color paint, and red face paint on the inside. the zipper face has been done before by others, and when i tried it myself, turns out its not that hard as it might seem.
done in about an hour, maybe 1hr 30.
i didnt wear any lenses, my eyes are photoshopped in this picture to give it even more of a dramatic effect.
i am not a makeup, costume or gore effects artist. this is my first try at the zipper face, and i didnt have a whole lot to work with. i'm mostly a digital painter and traditional airbrusher.

It's cool but it would have looked a bit more impressive if you had painted in muscles and skeleton showing through- not your goatee. XD

i thought it was gonna hurt getting it off as i used a lot of super glue xD but it came off from its own after a couple of hours. unfortunately, as i would have liked more time scaring people

Ah I tried that one as well this year. But it is hard to do without proper glue or liquid latex.
Convincing result!
Eyes are gruesome.
It's a comfort that's photoshopped, because they look heavily convincing and infected.

indeed, i used superglue for the zipper to hold on to my skin but it came off by itself in a couple of hours. i thought about buying liquid latex for it but i thought the drying time would be quite long.

It's not too bad when you have a hairdryer to help speeding up the drying time. (:
The hardest part is buying it somewhere, as not all stores sell it. Perhaps try making your own, by mixing water, glycerine and gelantine and heat it in the microwave. It allows you to glue things on it and to mold gruesome wounds.
I did a entry for the same contest, just made with that stuff.

the latex probably stretches more with movement of the skin. i found glue pulled my skin a bit if i moved too much

You got some pretty thick edges you could work more on the blending, and the fake skin is slightly off colour, but if this is your first try it's a good first try

You should look into different materials too, like silicone, latex, gelatine... This is a very good first try, and with more experience and material knowledge you could do pritty good I reckon

You can find detailed vids on youtube on how to do this look and what products are best. it is fun to play around with the zipper looks, I myself play on days it's not expected for people to dress up.
