Description
Made for a Fan Art Event in The Legend of Spyro Discord server! The theme was to redesign Spyro!I redesigned Spyro to be Cynder's brother and made him resemble her design-wise with an aether mark on his head and four horns as well as a few other changes. In my head this changes all the akward romantic-ey scenes to more impactful family bonding ones where the two dragons who have been raised away from their own kind can start to feel like a family.
No hate towards anyone who likes doing the ships I just couldn't get this idea out of my head when I heard one of the GBA ports had Spyro and Cynder as a brother and sister and I thought that it was was the case before Dawn of the Dragon happened to make the ship canon.

I've been seeing this picture over the last couple of months in my messages and I gotta say I really enjoy this concept a lot! I was one of those people who thought that Spyro and Cynder were meant to be siblings when playing through the console versions of the games so when DOTD happened and the rather non-subtle shipping started happening in the game, it was kinda awkward. Reeeally awkward. 8,D
I especially love the altered patterns on Spyro and him having his own Aether head mark.
But man, the comments you got on this picture are really discouraging to say the least. Sorry you got comments like that!

I played through all of The Eternal Night thinking "Aww, these two are such wonderful siblings" and then DOTD was an eye-opener in the "oh no I made a mistake" kind of way. That's why I kinda have a soft spot for when people reimagine these two as siblings, because it reminds me of my first playthrough and experiencing this world for the first time, even if I ultimately turned out to be wrong.
I'm glad you got an apology, by the way! And that the negative comments seemed to have died down and were less forceful. That was such a shame to see opening up this picture.

When you're stuck at the end of the game trying to figure out if you're watching incest love blossom or if you need to retcon everything you ever believed up until that point (Yeah I went with the recon because the alternative just NOPE for me xD)

I'm honestly really glad to see ever more alternate interpretations of their relationship (and that of Cynder and Ember) pop up, so much more interesting to see all those lovely fresh headcannons than to see that old war.

YO this is adorable!! I love how Spyro looks and love his forehead marking! Plus his hip marking is unique!
They're going to be siblings in my AU as well, I always saw them as such when I first played the game. Even with Dotd I saw her "I love you" as a sibling thing? So seeing people ship them online made me hella uncomfy tbh :>

You know, back forth in my childhood, i only played GBA games. So them being called siblings in TEN really grow on me! You can imagine my mass confusion on dotd aha
I really like this idea more than this failed kind of romance that was shown in games. Much more scenes would actually be emotional since of actual family bend. Your concept is adorable Moogle, don't be sad over mean people who can't even read the description. I love your work, and it was a big honour to me to participate in FAE event with you and other peeps. Cheers!

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that you only had the GBA games! I was confused when playing the first two games and really unsure if they were related or love interests but I leaned towards siblings. I remember my mother asking me during the cutscene when Cynder leaves "Does Spyro have a girlfriend now?" and I was embarrassed and said "Eww no! I think that's his sister" mostly because I was at that age where romance is gross

I saw this posted in our Fan Art Event channel and I am all for this pic. It's subtle, but the entire purpose of the prompt was to Redesign Spyro, and you've handled that not only in subtle appearance changes but also in concept, taking a script typo and spinning it into your own idea. That's very creative!
I'd like to see more of this idea. Maybe you can make your own AU out of it with further development?
It'd also be good if people would stop giving you shit and actually, y'know, read the description also

I'm glad you liked my idea, I was worried it wasn't redesign-ey enough for the theme but I really do like doing all sorts of little "what ifs" and theory crafting... Gets the ol' brain juice flowing

Sierra Entertainment specifically made it clear that the mention of S x C being siblings on the GBA version of Eternal Night isn't correct. Furthermore this concept will NEVER be accepted in the Legend of Spyro I'm founder over.
Also, no long rants or threads please, I've heard enough of those from Trump since 2017.

As I said in the description the fan art event theme was to redesign Spyro so I did. This isn't meant to be canon. I liked the idea even if it was a mistake because it got me thinking about how it would have changed the games. I do art for fun and I enjoy this concept, I don't care that you don't like it.
And I have no idea what you mean about the Trump comment since I've never ranted on DeviantArt let alone about Trump and you're the one going out of your way to comment under my art
