Gift for =u=I haven't been active for the past couple of months and I do admit I had a major stump. I didn't have the motivation to draw or pick up my pen; and even when I did try, the sketches always looked... meh to me. ;u;
Though surprisingly, after a quick chat with you, Lu, somehow a bit of motivation of my last summer self went back x'D I did a sketch and turned out nicely that I had to finish it. So I have you to thank for igniting back my flame to draw =u= Admittedly it's still small, but it's there, slowly growing again <3 So yis, this what the sketch from last night turned into xD

I'm really happy you like it~ especially composition-wise! Tbh its my first time drawing the mouth in a side view that way ;u; but at least it looked okay =u= Her coat was a mess at first but luckily the coloring kinda saved it a bit x'D

I think a major strong point of this picture is the fact that the character is looking directly at the viewer. Together with this pose, it gives off the message that one should better not mess with her! The way how you worked with her hands and the setup of this picture shows that she means business!
Furthermore, the viewing angle is also nicely chosen to add up to the movement and liveliness you tried to capture - I like the movement curve of her coat from the middle- to the foreground a lot - this adds up greatly to the depth of the picture, along with the foreground flame!
The lineart is pretty sharp and thin and works together nicely with the strong large colour fields. Plus, I love that everything is affected by the fire's glow in a realistic and effective manner <3
The sparks flying are a nice touch and the warm colours get a lot of strength they need from the overall darker environment they are in.
As for improvement suggestions for next time, there is really not much to add x3 Again, these are only experimental thoughts that maybe could be put into practise, should you work with something similar at some point e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
I wonder what it would have looked like, if you had coloured some parts of the outlines for special touches. More precisely speaking, I mean: What if the outlines around her hand that summons the fire would have been in a brighter colour, if not even white? Since you used a large amount of orange and red tones in the center, the fingers would still have been visible in white contrast. Had you combined this with playing a little more with the shape of the flame, as in letting the flames move away out of her fingers, rather than setting the hand ablaze in its entirety, it could have had supported the impact and aura that the character has even better, as if she is in full control, because the fire moves to her will e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
The second suggestion I could make is playing even more with darkness and light contrasts. I know that this is very difficult to do with a character and a bg that have these majorly black and grey coloured parts in outfit and setup, but if the fire would actually bring some literal light into the dark and reveal Liliana out of the dark along with what she is capable of, it would have once again strengthened the impact of the respect she is spreading with that confidence and demonstrated power. I speak out of the experience of often not wanting to sacrifice character detail, but with the right balance of light in dark, in some cases, less is more <3
To conclude, no matter the what ifs, this is and remains an incredible effort! Thanks a lot for sharing and I hope that this critique could be of use for future works <3

i love the flow of the pose with the fire ;v; it's strange to say but the flames look fluid qvq the movement and swoop with the coat, makes her look ready to battle eue i love that she's glancing back, especially with the glow in her face~ ;w; the shading is awesome, so smooth and mesmerising ;;u;; <33 and i'm always liking how you do your anatomy p v p wonderful job, Julie!

So much has been happening that it's still taking my brain some time to cope...lol.
I was finally able to get some art posted and another chapter done though! So that's pretty exciting!
Though not as exciting as coming back here to see all of the amazing artworks you've and La-chan and others have done! That's seriously blown me away!

Tbh I was thinking about what I would say now, after you finished it my head was in the clouds a bit and I couldn't find anything smart to say about this ^^" But now I've decided what I really like about this =u=
First of all, I LOVE the way you draw fire >u< There's just something about it that looks so.. Realistic, and I can't help but love such a thing in your style <33
Second, your lighting and shading >u< I guess you can say this goes along with the fire. Fire means that the lighting of the area changes and with the way you shaded, especially around the face, it really does look like there's fire close to her body that also gives it the orange glow <333
