Description
1. Iain McCaig: Anyone who knows me knows Iain McCaig is the first name I bring up when I'm talking about favourite artists. His work is beautifully fantastical, like it isn't just a 2D picture when I look at his art, I get sucked right into the world he creates. Every time. His work on the Star Wars films has been particular favourite of mine. His costume designing is the stuff I dream of.2. Don Bluth: I grew up (and was traumatized lol) watching Don Bluth movies as much as I did Disney. It was actually his work on Dragon's Lair that got me interesting in drawing.
3. MisterKay : His work really made me think about expressions! About different angles, and giving personality to each character. He's one of the first places I go when I'm stuck in an art rut.
4. Phobs: Definitely one that surprises no one lol. Phobs work is just plain. damn. gorgeous.
5. Steven Gordon
6. Chira : Hooooo boy, what can I say about Chira.... Probably my biggest influence ever- and that's understating it lol She was one of the first artists I came across when I joined deviantart as a wee babb. Her expressions, her movement, the life she breathes into every one of her sketches...! Her work inspires me every. day. I've never once felt sad or depressed looking at her work,(as it sometimes happens knowing my own can't hope to match certain other artists lol)- her drawings only make me want to pick up a pencil or tablet pen and get going!
7. Makani
8. James Baxter
9. Glen Keane
10. Kazuki Takahashi: I'm a Yugioh nerd, that's no secret, and I'll probably die a Yugioh nerd lol (bury me with my deck). My little brother introduced it to me when he bought a Shonen Jump magazine and let me read it on a drive home. As soon as I flipped to the newest Yugioh chapter (it was where Priest Seto first meets Kisara) the line-work and shadows immediately caught my attention. Though my style is far more "Disney" than anime now, Takahashi's style was the one I tried to emulate in my weeb phase lol. I still use his way of drawing metal to this day.
11. Costume design
12. Kenneth Rocafort: A recent influence I picked up after reading Red Hood and the Outlaws. His work has... I don't know how to adequately describe it, and alien metallic quality to it? It's so distinct and I love it
13. HamletMachine
14. Becky Cloonan
15. Kreugan
16. Jubilations : Jubilations was another artist I came across right away when I first started poking around dA. Their work is SO alive and full of life and playful! The characters are bouncy and so fleshed out, and UGH Jubilations' expressions are the things I dream of
17. Marcus To
18. Nargyle
19. Ancalinar
20. Fashion history: The clothing mankind's worn from the start of our species, to now, has come in every shape, size, and colour imaginable. Civilizations across the globe have come and gone and left us sometimes with complete ideas about their social fashions, or only left hints and teeny tiny glimpses. Western, Asian, African, Aboriginal, Ice Age, or the runways of Milan nowadays, there's so much to learn about and draw from. Every layer of material has a meaning behind it.

I too grew up watching Don Bluth's work, and indeed The Secret of NIMH remains one of my very favourite movies to this day due to MASSIVE nostalgia from early childhood tied to the fact that it's STILL a genuinely awesome film. It's a shame we've not seen anything from him since the criminally underrated Titan AE unfairly tanked (personally I think it's a cracking film). It'd be nice to see Bluth lead a resurgence of hand-animated western features sometime in the near future - a new generation of kids needs to be as awed (and, yes, traumatized) as we were.

I LOVE Titan AE and I'm such a sucker for the video games he did!
I'd love to see him bring back some 2D animation ;3;
