How difficult it always is, to get stones for a costume in the right color, size and shape.
That's why I uploaded this tutorial today: How to make gems.
.
.
.
How to work step by step:
STEP 1
What materials do you need:
- resin and hardener
- tinting paint
- cups and spoons/ chopsticks to stir
- maybe a scale
- silicone mold for/ of stones (I bought it on etsy)
- aluminium foil
- scissors
STEP 2
~ Note:
With water I could find out how much resin I needed later.
For more quantities, you can mark a line with a pencil on the cup. ~
For my stone I need only 1 tablespoon of resin (= 8g)
For more quantities the weight is important. See step 3
STEP 3
To get some colorful stones you can use tinting paint. I use a simple green color.
Sometimes you need one or two colortests to get the right mixture ratio.
For a beautiful transparent green I need a half-drop.
Mixing the tinting paint with the resin thoroughly.
When you are finished you can add the hardener. For the stone, it was about 10 drops.
Each resin has a guide with a resin-hardener mixture ratio. For more quantities, you can calculate out at the scale of how much you need to mix hardener based on the weight. Otherwise, simply by touch.
Mix it again now.
STEP 4
Pour everything in the mold of your choice. With the spoon you can get every last drop out of the cup.
Tip: if you have too much resin in the cup, pour it into a second form. So all is well used.
STEP 5
Cut out the foil a rough shape of the stone. Something bigger than the stone itself!
And put it on it.
Now just wait until everything is fixed.
Tip: A warm place speed up the drying.
STEP 6
In approximately less than an hour the stone should be completely dry.
Take it out of the mold. If it is still a little sicky dry it with a hair dryer. Wait 5 minutes and cut the excess foil.
The stone is done ❤

You can do bought - make it self or find the perfect shape for your project and buy it
Maybe I make anytime a tutorial about making some molds, but I don't know when and which project. But you can find some nice tutorials in the internet. ^.~
