Description
*Will probably scrap it because it doesn't look all that professional. :SNow, I know I said I was going to have ~HeavenAndSky 's request done first. That is correct. This right here is only three of six buttons I need to draw out for the upcoming rennovations to the Seville Library. And since I was pretty much done with the basics for the first three, decided to share with you guys how I'm getting along in that respect.
The top left that I scribbled out was my first attempt at Alvin on the right, but I couldn't quite erase it, so I scribbled over it. Sorry.
Alvin in the top right goes with the "Alvin's Home Page" bit. I think the motion is pretty self explanatory.
Simon in the bottom left is reading off some sort of list. Personally, I think he came out the best of the three, Alvin being a close second.
And Theodore on the right is not giving people the thumbs up. He's actually using an artist's technique called sighting. You'll see this used more commonly when people are painting things that they see in front of them, like portraits or still lifes.
This is one of the many reasons why I wanted a printer. This will actually become more useful when I get to making comics, which will be done in a similar fashion.

Great job, Narf. I agree with Jesse. Alvin looks different. But it's not necessarily a bad thing.
I'm sure they'll look fantastic when they're finished.

How do you see him different, probably the grin right? And I know different doesn't make it a bad thing, but as someone who has a keen eye for detail, I want to see what I'm missing. XD
Thanks.

I think it's a combination of the grin and the eyes.
T'was nothing.

This is wonderful! Awesome job! All of the buttons are going to look fantastic when you finish!
As a chipmunk fan, I eagerly await the opening of the newly remodled Seville Library and I think its awesome all of the artists are working together to make it happen. Ross Snr. , Ross Jnr., Janice., THe Chipmunks & Chipettes would be proud.
Keep up the awesome work guys! ^-^

Thanks. It's going to be odd seeing these buttons done around now, and the banners that I made six months ago compared side by side. The banners I made were pretty good, but I've refined my chipmunk drawing skills quite a bit over that time.
And yes, I can't wait unil the Seville Library reopens. The sooner it does though, the more pressure it puts on me to get the buttons done, so if Raven's going to open it up really soon, I might have to get the new buttons in for the next update instead. I'd use clips from the show, but WB made their rounds again about a week and a half ago. :S And if Ross and family saw the site, it would actually be quite an honor. Perhaps then I could convince them to create new seasons for the cartoon.
Thanks, we're working at it. Thanks for the patience.

They do look good for a first draft. Simon does look great (I would recommend using that one for the 'Ask Simon' section of Laboratory page...it looks like he's reading letters from fans that are asking questions about the Chipmunks)
From what I learned from other concept artists that sometimes it is a good idea to try other versions (usually it is so the art directors can make a decision on which one is better to use.)
Stay creative!

Oh, you want me to create buttons for the various departments as well? Oh, okay. This might end up taking quite a bit longer than I thought. I was only going to create buttons for the six characters and a back to the home page sort of thing.
The original intent was looking at test results and he's a little boggled by the whole thing. It's more clarified when the speech bubbles come out for it. I believe he says "Hm, puzzling. I wasn't expecting these results." or something like that.
Yeah, I considered it, but I also have quite a few requests on my plate right now so I want to at least get some basics up for now. Uh, how much time do you estimate I have before the library gets updated? Because if you want more intermediate buttons for the site, it might take an additional week than I already have allotted, so it means it could take up to a month or so before I have all (probably eighteen) of them done.

You don't have to over work yourself, Narf. I just liked the one with Simon reading something on the paper....just seemed to fit more with that theme of "Ask Simon"
We can start with basic buttons at first. Then gradually we can add fancy new buttons for each category in the different Chipmunk's pages.
My way of thinking is this: We are not getting paid for this site, therefore we don't have to be in a rush to bring out great art. (Mainly because I'm a very busy person myself, and don't get a chance to update this site often. lol)
If you want to brainstorm some ideas for these buttons you can email me, ok.

Oh okay. If I need any help on button brainstorming I'll let you know. I'll stick with my original gameplan then and work on more intermediate buttons when things settle down a little.

no prob...the last thing I need is any artist from the site to over work themselves, including myself, lol...
I've been getting requests to have this site up by xmas...We'll see though...at least most of it should be presentable anyway by then

Looks great, I love Theo and Simon. Something seems off with Alvin, though.

What do you think's off with it? Alvin came out fine to me, so whatever you see off I can't seem to spot. The input is appreciated.

I'm not sure, friend. He's just off-looking compared to the other two. Like two different art styles.

It's probably just the way he's grinning then. That's the only thing that I can see that's different from the other two.

It's something with the style of art.
