Gwen needs some new clothes but she doesn’t trust Will yet. She is borrowing her clothes from a borrower bigger than her (Mike) and they clearly don't fit.
She is a borrower-like creature or her kind were borrowers when they lived hidden from humanity. When humans discovered them, they were trapped and sell as fancy pets. Gwen has had bad experiences with humans so Will will have to work hard if he wants to gain her trust. And he will because he is a sweetheart.
