K-9 and Friends was the first attempt at a Doctor Who spin off series. They only made one episode, the pilot, and as you can see, it suuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Perhaps if K-9 had looked more like your Robodog, the show might have had more success, but I doubt they had the means of doing that at that time.

I never watched Doctor Who, unfortunately. Yeah, I guess it couldn´t be too hard to make a better design, it looks more like a parody of a dog

K-9 is easily simultaneously one of the most irritating and most awesome characters to come out of Doctor Who. Granted, most of the actors hated the stupid machine, the radio control frequency would interfere with the cameras, and there were a whole host of other issues it caused. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5tR9b…
