I designed these to be a pet for one of my OC´s Arylinn. In my first designes she had a rat named Quinn, but I also often thought how cool it would be if a character had some kind of squirrel who would be even more advanced in climbing and jumping. I originally thought of a thief, I thought such a squirrel would be very handy for a thief
. But well, now I thought I could just combine both and make a "tree rat".Very intelligent little creatures who live in smaller families in the woods and stick together for "hunting" for food. So they might even steal from travelers or people who live in the woods

They´re usually not used at all (also not as pets), they are just vermin for people living near woods or travelers
It´s more of a coincidence, that my OC has one which she found injured and cared for... and then tried to hide from her family probably

So they normally don't get hunted or trapped unless they get in peoples houses or camps. So might want a really good kitty if I go near them.

Well, there will be people who hunt them for food (or other predators), but it´s not very common because they are
so smart and there´s not a lot flesh on them ^^.
