Why can't they look like this in the stores? The ponies in the stores look nothing like the ones in the show... apart from the mane six!

I actually think they do a pretty damn good job with what they do produce.
The moulds themselves are great, the paint on the eyes and cutie are are correct 90% of the time.
Their only downfall is the styling of the manes. And to make the manes styled correctly would add a lot of money to the end product, because it would cost so much to do.
They used to have the pink Celestia's but they are listening to the feedback we give them, and have since released a white version. So yeah, I can't complain haha

I'm currently in the middle of making a season 1 Luna custom with the purple Luna. My hair arrived today, so as long as I don't get busy, I can finish it soon.

What exactly do you do to these? They're so spiffy!

I rip all their hair out, remove their eye and cutie mark paint, re paint their entire body In a new colour, repaint the eyes and cutie marks, seal the paint.
Add new hair, then style the hair

daaaaaaaaaaaaaang all that, even the hair... didn't even notice, looks so official... i've used DuraClear satin varnish brush on liquid, and for some reason, it peels off my sculpey painted figures... :/ I don't know what to do, do you suggest anything?

Get mod podge.
It's a water base sealer.... And basically it's just glue.... In fact you probably could use any sort of pva-like glue and it would do the trick

I normally charge $40 for a normal custom the size of the mane 6
However the princesses are more expensive to buy, and are more difficult to make, so It would probably be at least $60 for any custom the size of the princesses.
Haha yeah, I really threw myself in the deep end last year when I decided to make her as my first one, however to this day I'm still really proud of her

Did you make it in your own style or did the makers of My Little Pony change the style of the ponies?
I love the gold, by the way, and the different colors in the extremely wavy hair. I didn't even notice the jewelry on the other one, haha. The moon is cute, though =3

Because they are toys, it is difficult to get them looking EXACTLY like they do in the show, unless you use clay, but that isnt my thing, I prefer the nylon hair.
Luna (left) was my first custom, so she is probably the least accurate of the two here. I should take the time to make her hair wavy as well haha

Good work on your customs and I agree that the nylon hair is better than using clay, it just looks so much more natural and better overall that way.
And...
I'm no brony, but after seeing how craptistic Hasbro's Celestia is, I'd be pissed that they didn't even TRY to make it close to the way she looks in the show.
